Movies Unlimited is showing a pre-release for Complete Season 4 of the Danny Thomas Show. I’m pretty sure this has never been on DVD before.
30 episodes and it’s being released by Reel Vault so it will most likely will be
DVD-r format.
Reel Vault released season one of My Little Margie in good quality, so this should be a decent release.

I recently started watching The Danny Thomas Show on Prime. My family did watch this show together during its long run so many decades ago, but I have no memory of the episodes in season four that I'm watching now.

Enjoy but to me the main seasons are 5-11 when Marjorie Lord joined the show. Up until about 10 years ago seasons 10 and 11 had not been shown in any syndicated package since CBS reran those during 1965!

Why were the last two seasons left out of the syndication package ? And the first three seasons also are on PD releases that are unwatchable ? I remember as a kid watching them when I would get home from school, and it included Jean Hagen up until Terry got married. Then the series would start over again with Hagen......

Yes those first three seasons are unwatchable as I found some $1 DVD’S that was horrible and threw them out. I heard those shows are now in Public Domain and haven’t aired since the early 60’s in the afternoon. They showed seasons 1-9!

I just got my set of DVDs for season 4 from Reel Vault. The quality is excellent and there are 8 episodes with the original commercials! There are 8 episodes on the first 3 discs and 6 on disc 4, fine for dual layer discs. And, most importantly, they are in the original 4x3 correct aspect ratio so you don't have to watch with black bars on all 4 sides of the screen, which I believe they call window boxing. This season was not seen for decades until COZI-TV started running the series and included this season as well as seasons 10 and 11. But on COZI, the episodes were badly cut, missing almost 5 minutes of show per episode. These are all complete and uncut. This was the widower season after Jean Hagen left the series, which I believe marked the first time that a main character from a TV show was actually written off by having them die. Towards the end of the season, Danny starts dating Kathy (Marjorie Lord), proposing in the last episode. Her daughter was played by an young actress who was replaced the next season by Angela Cartwright, when the show moved to CBS.

Great news to hear! This Season also marks the name changed to The Danny Thomas Show. I disagree with you about the original aspect ratio as whatever Cozi-TV did to change it to a 1:78 I feel that it looks so much better!

All of season 4 (30 episodes) are up on Amazon Prime for streaming in HD. No commercials, but they look outstanding. They are in the original 4x3 correct aspect ratio with only bars on the side. If you see black bars on all 4 sides of the screen, then either something isn't configured correctly in your setup, or you are still using a 4:3 (e.g., CRT) TV.

Thank you for this. I was going to buy it but wasn't sure of the quality.

No I don't have a 4X3 TV and my point was just that when they blow up a 4X3 to 16X9 if it's done correctly, looks amazing BUT yes, the 4X3 is the original and should be vied as such. have a nice holiday!

Ah...I wasn't responding to you. My post was directed to Neil who on more than one occasion has incorrectly insinuated that you will get bars on all sides when 4x3 content has been formatted to fit a 16x9 output. I believe it is quite possible he does still watch on a 4x3 TV, and I just wanted to ensure others it will output correctly on a 16x9 screen.

Gotcha! Thanks.
