I had the great good fortune to see this film at the NY Film Festival on Saturday afternoon and..
IT WAS A REVELATION! I urge you to see it in a theatre if it runs in your city. The re-cutting and restoration of several musical sequences has lifted what was a disappoint upon major release into an extraordinary achievement. And to see the work of so many who are no longer with us now gloriously restored, is thrilling. THE COTTON CLUB ENCORE now ranks as one of my favorite Coppola films, right up there with GODFATHERS I & II, APPOCALYPSE NOW and THE CONVERSATION. If you love musical films, gangster films, Films of the African American diaspora, Jazz and heartfelt poetic cinema, this is one of the most satisfying releases of the year. The Blu-ray will be a must own first day purchase for me.

I'm glad to hear that. I just wish this was playing in Northern California.

No UHD disc option?
I'm assuming Lionsgate will be doing the same trick they did for Tucker the Man and His Dream, which was Blu-ray disc and 4K download. Since the digital code on that disc only redeemed as HD, it turned out to be a waste. So this time I'll skip the disc and just buy the 4K digital copy.
