This event I'm talking about is something many have been waiting for...

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you're ready to rock, get ready for...

    LIVE AID!

Bob Geldof will be releasing this to DVD soon, with all proceeds going to charity...

    I am excited...anyone else?

    Sincerely,

John "They knew we wanted it, and now we're getting it!" Kilduff

I know one person who'll want this DVD: my Dad! He used to work for a security company called Spectaguard, and he got to work backstage at Live Aid!

Unfortunately, my Dad's the sort who says "Yeah, I met Bob Geldof. Who is he?"

I'm very excited if we're getting the entire 12(?) hours. If it's a 2-hour best-of, then I'll probably pass. Sadly.

I hope it is indeed the whole thing. Though I wouldn't scoff at a "Best of" type of package, provided they included Queen's show-stealing set [IMG]

I was also at the London show and it was something I'll never forget. I remember how hot it was that day (unusual for London) and they were hosing down the crowd.

I also remember hopping on the tube (subway) to go home (living in London at the time) to catch the rest of the US show on television. I seem to remember seeing Phil Collins play in the US (having flown over on the Concorde after playing in the UK). After that, I passed out from exhaustion and missed the rest of the US show...

Great day! I'll definately pick up this DVD when available.

I'd like to know the provenance of this news - it sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's not the documentary and highlights of Live Aid, which was shown on the BBC on the 10th anniversary?

I'll buy the DVD, but I'll skip over Bob Dylan's disgraceful performance on the American set. I still cringe with embarrassment thinking about it nearly 20 years later.

I watched most of the show on TV, but missed this part. What happened?

I agree that if this is true it would be really cool, and I hope they release all of it, not just some "best of" type thing.

As much as I have wished for the entire show to be released, I just can't seem to think that Jimmy Page & Robert Plant would EVER allow it.

I'm afraid that unless Geldof had an amazingly solid release waiver signed, by every artist, BEFORE the event, the entire show is just a pipe dream.

God, I'd LOVE to be wrong though.

I would also be interested in seeing a DVD of the first Farm Aid that was held here in Champaign, IL. The inspiration from that came from a comment made by, I believe, Neil Young at Live Aid.

I would be interested in seeing Live Aid and showing it to my 15 year old son, who is interested in some the groups that appeared at this concert 3 years or so before he was born.
