Thanks! I don't remember hearing about that swap. I guess, I can order a copy of "In a Lonely Place" now, unless there are strong rumors of this getting a re-release???

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but it would be nice to get some of their Charley Chase shorts. If a real release wasn't possible I'd be very happy with them on DVD-R.

I don't know if this has ever been considered but how about trying to reconstruct The Lady from Shanghai to match Orson Welles' original intentions ala Touch of Evil & Universal? If successful, I think it could be huge among the film community.

It's something I'd be very interested in seeing.

Do all the scenes and film elements that were hacked out of Welles original film still exist? My understanding is that quite a chunk of the funhouse scene was cut. I've seen photos of some of the scenes and sets and it looks amazing. If they could restore that, it would be a real find.

Same here. It was annoying having to sell my old copy of The Big Heat when I got the first set.

It's been tried. Peter Bogdanovich searched for it years ago with a eye toward reconstructing it. Sadly, it's all gone.

To answer another question: there's a good chance that a remastered IN A LONELY PLACE will be re-released in some form or another.

I agree. The fact that the Big Heat was included in the first box is the main reason why I didn't buy it (though I probably will someday - its just not that high on my wishlist). This second box-set however: they've removed the double dip and replaced it with a Fritz Lang movie (that in itself is pretty high on my wishlist). And apart from that it also has movies by Phil Karlson and Jacques Tourneur!

In short: Film noir box II is a must-buy!

And given that Warner's Film noir box 5 is also released this summer, it seems that july is going to be a sweet month for people who love film noir!

Widescreen (anamorphic) and 5.1 of YOU CAN'T RUN AWAY FROM IT. TCM occasionally airs a pan and scan with mono version (shame on you TCM).

Swoosh, that's fast. Hopefully we'll see the Hayworth set this year, too and maybe a hint for the Capra/Lorre titles as well.

    Y O W Z A!

I can not wait to get my hands on that Novak set. PICNIC and PAL JOEY have never had a decent home video release.

Whoa. Pal JOey does NOT say remastered.

Just because two otherws ARE remastered, does not neccesarily mean they will be better.

I think Marcel overlooked that Pal Joey was released already because the Columbia Classics website says:

No word on any special features but I hope Sony at least asked for the lovely Kim's participation, either a commentary on a couple of the films or at least a retrospective interview on her career at Columbia. I suspect she would (did?) have declined but hopefully Sony at least asked.

Added the "Remastered" to Pal Joey. :)

    Thanks Gregory.
