It is interesting to hear that you never got the newsletter.
It is possible that his email filtered it to the wrong place.

My email marked it as spam and I had to retrieve it from the Bulk folder.

I finally got around to getting some PayPal funds on their way to you.
I’m happy to contribute to the Forum.
This site has both SAVED and COST me thousands of dollars, but I’m having a great time doing it.
My Theater Room wouldn’t look and sound as great as it does without the information and advice that I’ve learned here.
I’ve made many great friends through this place via the trips to New York, Scooters parties in Jersey and the National Meets out in California.
Keep up the good work. :emoji_thumbsup: :emoji_thumbsup: :emoji_thumbsup:

Packy and Ron,

Ah,

finally received my final payment for the two "auctions" which I ran about 10 days ago. The two sales were in the Hardware Forum (Acoustic Zen Silver Photon, 1.5 M), and the Software Forum (Dances w/Wolves dts, Image Ent, 2 disc original).

The tally is thus:
$45. for the AZ (boy, I took a hit on this one 8~(
and....
$35. for the DWW 2 disc set/dts
($5.00 S/H :#)

You will find the funds ($75.00) in your account tonight.

This is the least I can do for this forum. As I look around the webs HT forums.... and I do look, and look... this forum stands alone as the best, the most comprehensive Home Theater Forum there is. And as far as the membership here.... all I can ask is that they look around (honestly, poke around) and try to find a better forum devoted to HT. There are only a bunch of seconds.

Godspeed,

BOK

So far we have collected a little over $5000 with mailed in contributions and Paypal donations. The response has been nothing short that spectacular.

Sent out a check this morning. When I think of all the hard work Ron, Packy and the rest put into making this the best ht site on the net I only wish I could afford to send more. :emoji_thumbsup:

Hey Parker,

Is there a dealines for contributions? Are you closing off the drive anytime specifically? I'd like to get a donation in before the window closes, just have been putting it off.

Vince:

Ron and I have decided to keep this open until the end of March so there is no rush to send anything in.

We are up to about $5,500 with all the mailed in donations counted in with the Paypal donations.

Ron and Parker,

I understand and appreciate the sentiment, but ...

... really, I should be thanking you. Not the other way around.

I love to write, I love movies, and I love most everything DVD. I *rarely* get to discuss movies in person, because few folks can do so in anything other than mono-syllabic grunts of "movie gud, movie bad, chick hot, guy ugly" etc...

But for the last few years, I walk out of movies I loved (or occasionally hated) thinking about what I might want to say on the HTF about what I've just seen. The context and expansion I get for my thoughts and love for movies here is beyond awesome, beyond spectatcular, and beyond cool. Member threads have inspired me, taught me, enriched me, and expanded me.

Thank *you*, for creating a community that thrives. The Internet is promised as a culture of ideas, and here at HTF that is true.

It made my week to write a check and drop it in the mail. Please don't hesitate to ask in the future when progress or the rising costs of bandwidth make new inroads. You guys should not be forced to bear the fiscal costs for HTF atop the time costs to maintain and expand it. We benefit, and from this particular little corner of that collective "we", we're getting one of the best bargins in the world.

Don't know if I missed it on a previous thread (or maybe it was in the email newsletter) either way my question is - is there a required target for this donation drive? And are we going to reach it

David,
Thank You. More than anything, we would love to
be able to pay for this forum out of our pockets
for the benefit of our membership. I really mean
that. We SHOULD be making enough money through
advertising that we can not only afford to pay for
the costs of running this forum, but pay or staff
members a salary as well and still have money left
for ourselves.
It's not just us that are suffering this downed
economy. The Internet in general suffers from
lack of advertising support.
What bothers us the most is that the studios, of
all people, use this forum heavily for marketing
purposes but yet throw all their advertising dollars
elsewhere. With that in mind, I'd like to mention
that the ONE studio we didn't want support from
actually offered us a hefty donation in exchange
for advertising. That studio is Twentieth Century
Fox, and really, for all they have done for this
forum, we weren't exactly comfortable accepting
their gracious offer.
Stewart,
Did not forget about you.
You asked about a target. Well, I don't think we
set a specific target, but last year we did collect
(I believe) $8,000 from the membership. I think
we are now at $5,000.
Once again, on behalf of Parker and the Moderators,
we thank you for your donations.
