Right now I'm watching the 1946 movie Till the End of Time, starring Robert Mitchum, Dorothy McGuire, and Bill Williams. It's not as good as The Best Years of Our Lives, but still a powerful movie at times from my pov. A 1:30 they make a reference to FDR having lost the use of his legs when he was 39, and it seems like this may have been more widely known when he was alive than is sometimes reported.

Another personal favorite film of mine. I have it in DVD and the iTunes HD digital. I try to watch it every 5-7 years.

It was known at the time, but Roosevelt didn’t want photographs or news reels to convey the impression of someone who was limited.
