what is the best game you've ever played but never beat?
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Oh, hey Oscar -
My answer: Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Never quite had the ability / patience for some of the mini-quests or the last stone tower... the whole "start over after three days" aspect was really fascinating but became really repetitive for me (especially the damn "shoot the ghosts at the ranch" mini-game.. argh!).
I still consider it a great game, though.
Hey Oscar, hey Steve.
The Best game I never finished... there are at least 15 right now...
Castlevania:CoTM, Link's Awakening, Code Veronica, Castlevania 2...
And about 80% of the PS2 games I now own (which amounts to about 17 games... all unfinished.
When I was younger I had such a better attention span than I do now, now I buy a game, play it rabidly for a few days, then pick up a new title... etc etc.
"You are a prime candidate for NetFlix, my friend." --Oscar R.
Phantasy Star for sega genesis. I never did get a chance to finish it got far but I turned 16 and had no time for it once I got a car.
Tactics Ogre for Playstation. College got in the way.
A lot of PSX and PS2 games. Mainly, Devil May Cry (didn't get all the secrets), Silent Hill 2, and Lunar 2.
RE2 is a close second.
System Shock 2 on the pc. i still start it up from time to time...
It's an incredible game, until you get to the twenty minute text narration. Then it just seems like they tacked on more game, to fill the CD or something, and I just put it down, and walk away.
System Shock 2
Super Mario Brothers
Here I am, 21....had a Nintendo Robotic Operating Buddy Kit the first Xmas they were only available in New York and Los Angeles(Dad flew out to LA on a job interview and got one while he was there), got that when I was like three or four(I think he got mostly for him).....ok that was a long interlude, but the point of the matter is I have never beaten Super Mario Bros. and probably never will.
Almost every game i ever played. Damn I think there's only one or two i actually beat. I just get tired of a game after a while unless its really open-ended.
Bud God do I love gaming though!
My real answer is a NES game called
The Battle of Olympus
Here are a couple screen shots, maybe one day I'll actually make it all of the way through this great game.
I got to the end where you need to drive that stupid Warthog thru the commotion of aliens and ground shaking blasts.
With all the slowdown, poor controls of the XBox controller and crappy accelleration of the Warthog, I said "screw it!".
I was sooooooo pissed that the game got me half way through only to .have my rescue ship get destroyed
I still have the game, maybe if I set the level to "easy" and try again, but as it stands, I have no desire to play that level ever again.
Rocket: Robot on Wheels. That last level is a killer.
Either Syphon Filter or Zelda: OoT. I got to the very last level of SF and just never finished it for some reason. As for Zelda, I played until Link grew up, and then I just got bored with it. I know lots of people love this game, but for the life of me I don't see it.
Oh, "never" finished. I read too fast
Oni, Deus Ex, Crash Bandicoot 5, Dark Cloud, Summoner. They were great games but didn't hold my interest long enough to finish them.
Sam and Max Hit the Road. You know what sucks? Buying a great game and playing through it only to find that right when you get to the climax that the game suffers from a glitch that prevents you from actually completing it. That happened to me on this game (the thing locked up on me every single time I got held up by Conroy in the back of the bigfoot convention). Maybe one of these days I'll look into getting a copy that actually works and complete it...
Shenmue for the DC.
I was halfway thru disc 4 when a family member accidently erased my info. I just need to find the time to go back & start al over...
Great game, though...we need about 5 more hours in the day
