Need help I want something that will last and not freeze.
Progressive scan or not
I can tell you i've got the Sony NS725P and have used it for a month now without any problems. It's as quiet as a mouse and has a great menu system. For $150 it might be the best there is. I also know they make another model that costs about $200 that plays SACDs. I forget the model number though.
200 seems alot for a DVD player these days. I have a Samsung P421 Progressive scan, you can find them for 100 or less. Awesome picture, quiet, DTS, optical output, and I have NEVER seen a layer change after 3 months of heavy use!
Save the money, buy another toy to go with it.
My friend got the Toshiba 3900 at best buy last weekend with the 10% off coupon for $89.
Some players play thru less than perfect disk, some don't.
I'll say that most people I know have trouble after about a year. I want one that will last
Daniel is talking about the NS755, the Sony DVD/SACD p-scan player. I've got it and I'm very happy with it. I had a Philips before, and the Sony is quite a bit better. The menus are very freindly, and it lets you experience SACD without breaking the bank. I'd recommend it if you're looking in that price range. (Retail $250, I think I paid $220)
Also, Sony now has a 5-disc changer with the same capabilities as mine (single-disk) for the same price.
