BTW, I did get the "Blu Ray" cleaner disc, which is not a Blu Ray at all. It's a DVD. Still, there is a slight design difference between it and the "DVD" cleaner, which is actually a CD.

Regarding the "DVD" (CD) cleaner being "incompatible" with BR players, I can only guess that was ignorance regarding whether BR players can play CDs, which every single one can do. Even though the older DVD cleaner has worked fine for me on multiple players, it probably is a better idea to use the "Blu Ray" one, just in case.
Thanks. Got the blu-ray one and have run it twice. I'll report back after watching a few more UHDs, which seem to be the most problematic.

FWIW, I have not had a single failure or problem. So, it occurs to me that if you continue having problems after cleaning the laser and discs, you can let them know that we both bought players at the same time, both directly from Magnetar, and your player has problems, while mine doesn't.

Magnetar should pay you as a consultant. I don't know why the guy just didn't explain things to me like you did. I might have had a different reaction.

Tell me about it. But that's just the state of customer service these days. It's absurd. "That's just the way things are. Look at all the complaints online." is not a response to a very expensive product that doesn't work. I do have some background in it though. Back in another century I was a technical representative for a manufacturer. It's astounding how few people in these companies have any idea how their equipment works. I'm sure it's only gotten much worse.

An FYI, I put the 4K disc of Passengers in the player today, and it wouldn’t load. I cleaned it with a micro fiber cloth, and it loaded fine.

Ah, your first hiccup. I've had the 'not loading' problem at least twice now. One of the times it started playing after a simple reboot. Good to know you got it working though.

I guess my main point is that if a disc doesn't play or load, or has problems playing, there are probably ways to solve it. I see a lot of people throw up their hands and get angry that stuff doesn't work. I've had 4K players for six years, and have far too many 4K discs, and I have yet to encounter a single disc I couldn't get to play by cleaning the disc and/or laser.

I'm thinking you're right.

Watched a new blu-ray of Born on the Fourth of July yesterday. Flawless playback.
