Right now it's better just to ignore the Hoffman thread on this release. As usual the speculation turns into speculation on speculation on speculation. They get 3 tid-bits of info like the Giles Martin mixing blivet and extrapolate into oblivion. The vast majority of members there have no clue about video anyway so every internet audio engineer there has to throw in their bit without knowing a damn thing. A lot of them don't know or like anything about surround as well so I just kind of shake my head.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. Yeah, it's a lot of people with very strong opinions on what should and shouldn't be heard in the mixes and how it's obvious to anyone with ears that the new mixes were created by robots Hell-bent on destroying the Beatles and humanity as we know it. Not much middle ground.

Yes. I am now preparing to have my childhood raped.

I am about to post up next week's Weekly RoundUp...but thought I would give an advance peek here as to what Best Buy is advertising for the Beatles sets.

Target is ignoring them completely.

Best Buy says it will be selling the sets for:

Blu: $19.99

CD/2DVD: $49.99

CD/2 Blu: $54.99

And...I note today that Amazon has changed it's pricing on some of these sets.

The single Blu has dropped from $21.99 to $19.99

The CD/2-Blu has gone up from $48.99 to $50.98

We'll count me in on this new audio / visual package from The Beatles ( I was only 4 in 1963 and my teenage babysitters were all Beatles crazy).
Onto my bucket list this goes for after I pay for the new 4K UHDTV next week and next year's two Carnival Cruises (one to be paid off this month).

I do wish this release included two additional items:
1. The Compleat Beatles Saturday Morning Cartoon Series.

2. Allan Sherman's "I Hate The Beatles" parody song (though I'm not sure that is the exact title).

I made it official today and canceled my pre-order of the single Blu version of this release (now just $19.88 at amazon) and kept my pre-order for the CD/2-Blu version of the release (currently $50.98. Ugh...that price difference).

I figured I'd only have regrets if I shortchanged myself on the available material and then deny myself because I had gone ahead with the single-disc Blu.

I will be waiting for Christmas though...delayed gratification, don'tcha know?!?

And here's hoping that the power-that-be realize the continued interest on the part of the music-buying public and think about some multi-channel Blu-ray Audio releases in the future!

I too bit the bullet and ordered the $50.98 package from Amazon. I have no intentions of letting it sit idle once it's delivered. I'm going to let it breathe.

On another note TheBeatle1 YouTube channel has added another 1 minute teaser to its collection.

"The Long And Winding Road" similar to the version heard on the "Let It Be Naked" disc.

The NME site has an exclusive of "We Can Work It Out" (available only in Flash) on their site.

I guess the best way to include the link to that video is to provide the link to the author's articles (shorter link):

The article is:

Video Exclusive: Check Out The Beatles Performing 'We Can Work It Out' From New Compilation '1'

and should be the second item from the top of the list.

Finally in HTML5 and in much better quality (for video tape):

We Can Work It Out – Shot on two-inch black-and-white videotape on Nov. 23, 1965 at the Twickenham Film Studios in Middlesex. A black-and-white video version of the song appears on the “1” video disc, while another with the group dressed in their Shea Stadium jackets, the third of the three versions shot that day, is on the “1+” added second disc in the deluxe set.

Great. I love The Beatles half hearted attempt to look like they're playing their instruments, & Johns face not taking it too seriously. I'm going to have to buy this set.

I think my best hope of getting the 2 Blu-ray + 1 CD version at a better price down the road will either be from Amazon Marketplace or perhaps a Brick & Mortar Outlet!

Amazon Canada still hasn't budged from their ridiculous $69.99 price tag! Some bloody incentive! :P

Ah well!

CHEERS! :)

Got mine today :D

Nice if a bit unwieldy packaging.

It's like a book with the 2 BDs inside the front cover, the CD on the back cover and the book in the middle.

Listening to the new Yes Fragile BD right now but will certainly spin this one at least a bit in a bit.
