That reminds me... I always assumed Peppermint Patty was narcoleptic or something (and yeah, she was actually brought up in my Psych 101 course, LOL), but didn't realize she actually did get tested (even before I went to college, LOL)...

BTW, that seemed to be a common problem for some/many college students (at least back in the day), including myself, and many would exhibit somewhat similar narcoleptic-like symptoms (though usually probably not quite so drastic as PP) according to my Psych 101 course back then, heh -- and yeah, I did often enough fall briefly asleep in class like PP, especially during my freshman year, even during a freshman weed-out Chem exam once, and would sometimes be writing totally unrelated (if barely-to-somewhat coherent) stuff in my class notes from my dream state or something, especially in this one very small, math-major-oriented Calc 2 course I took mainly w/ just a dozen aspiring math majors, LOL...

Definitely not ready to splurge that much for the Ultra 2 just to get that bump in battery life -- even a refurbed/renewed model costs ~2x as much as the 45mm S9 (on sale).

Huh... maybe I should just wait for the S10 then?:P When is that expected? I do still have my old Fitbit Versa 3 that should serve me fine for another good while... though it would be nice to upgrade by Oct-ish for foliage season...

FWIW, I'm probably also upgrading to iPhone 16 Pro (or maybe Pro Max) around then (and probably giving my 13 Pro for to my 17-yo after replacing its battery)... although I will probably hate losing iTunes app at that point... :P

If I was going to buy a new Apple Watch I would wait until September when the new models arrive considering the standard series is getting a huge revision with a larger screen and more battery life.

But then again, if it's all about saving money, then go with the S9

That sounds more like boring classes combined with students who stayed up too late partying than narcolepsy if that many students were falling asleep. 😂

Are the new ones actually expected in Sept? I wasn't sure when new Watches are usually released -- was under the impression maybe during the holiday shopping season instead.

I won't mind paying for the regular/non-sale price if it indeed provides significantly better battery life. Of course, I wouldn't expect it to rival the Ultra 2 for that, but an additional say 8-10 hours (plus the bigger screen) would probably be worth the extra $80-100 (to me) over what I'm paying ($310) for the S9 (plus I'd be getting the latest model w/ whatever other enhancements)... and the wait would only be 1.5-2 months, if it's coming in Sept -- I'm definitely not in a rush to get one right now other than I was just making use of the sale even as I nearing ready for an upgrade/replacement for my Fitbit Versa 3.

The other thing is maybe I wouldn't actually lose much, if any, if I just stick w/ the sale-priced S9 and then trade it in for the new S10 later (vs just waiting for the S10)...

At worst, announced in September and released in October. I would side with a September release.

The S10 could equal the amount of battery life on the Ultra. The Ultra would remain a premium watch with its expanded features and build quality.

We are only getting tidbits of rumored information at this point, but all signs are pointing to a larger screen and more battery life.

Guess I have ~3 weeks to see and decide/commit whether I'm keeping the S9 (until the S10 arrives, if it's indeed suped up) -- my ordered S9 isn't expected to arrive for another week.

New watches are aligned with new phones as of the last few years. I’m planning a new watch and expecting to get it same-ish time this fall as my new iPhone.

Alrighty, given the likely timing of the Watch S10/X and probable (enough) improvements, I'm just gonna cancel my order for the sale priced S9 and wait -- think I also have some (discounted) Apple GCs I can use to more than make up the diff in pricing methinks.

My old Fitbit Versa 3 still has some good, useful life left (and really have no complaints at all), so no big deal to wait...

Meanwhile, I can just use that $$$ to pay for my (somewhat unexpectedly) big batch ordered from the recent Kino sale instead, LOL!

Thanks much, y'all, for all the info/feedback!

I just placed an order for an Ultra 2 at Best Buy with 0% interest for 18 months (which I’ll pay off in 2 months).

My Series 4 still works fine and has all day battery life but the upper right corner of the display got badly cracked today (not my fault!!!) and I can’t see paying $$$ to replace the display on a 6 year old smart watch so I’m moving on up to the East Side.

I guess you didn't wanna try a certified refurb direct from Apple (for ~$680?) instead? Seems like refurbs direct from Apple are essentially just like new, including the battery, AFAIK.

I probably woulda gone that route if I'm considering the Ultra 2 at this point...

Congrats, Clinton. Expect to be blown away. The Ultra is an incredible watch

I considered it but 18 months at 0% interest is appealing to me (even though it’ll be paid off in 2 or 3 months) plus Best Buy had the watch in store locally and I picked it up about 40 minutes after I placed the order.

The watch is larger, but not obnoxiously so. I can definitely feel the weight difference between this and my S4, the Ultra 2 being noticeably heavier because it’s titanium instead of aluminum. It feels like a solid, luxury watch. I didn’t think I’d like the way the side of the watch extends over the crown but I got used to it after a few minutes.

One things that bugs me is that when I set up the watch by restoring it from a backup, it thinks I have 15 photos synched to it. My old watch thought that from the day I set it up as well. I may have to unpair the watch and set it up as a new watch to make that go away.

I think most everyone has the same reaction. The Ultra seems obnoxiously big for a few seconds then you suddenly realize that it looks normal on the wrist.

I’m not a fan of the new bands so I’m using the bright blue sport band that I’ve always used with my S4.

I use all my old series bands with the Ultra and they look great. The thing that worries me is that there are rumors that Apple is going to be switching to a magnetic attachment system for bands with the next watch. I am hoping they are thinking that through as there has been a lot of pushback to the idea as owners have a large collection of bands that no longer will be compatible.

There's no Ultra 3 expected soon-ish, right? Y'all are tempting me to consider that route, LOL... unless the battery life of the S10/X does come all that close to the Ultra 2, heh...

And oh, yes, Clinton, congrats on your new Ultra 2! :D:cool:

Yes, an Ultra 3 is supposed to be announced in September.

Rumor is that it's the same design but adding health features. Rumored: Micro LED screen, sleep apnea and hypertension detection.
