...what have you purchased from Amazon? I'd really like to know how the contents of the box are determined.Just a quick note to mention that I agree, there is no relationship to past purchases or even past searches. All I've ever bought from Amazon are books and DVDs and software, and today I was offered not one, not two, but three different sized rice cookers.
Still, this "experiment" is fun, in a cruel, scratch-card kind of way.
I'd really like to know how the contents of the box are determined.Like others have said, I don't think they determine what to put into the box based on your past purchases. I believe they choose items at random and offer them in order to get several impulse buys from customers...people who have to have something because it's heavily discounted, even though they'll likely have no use for it.
And I've noticed (both personally and looking at friends' boxes) that the DVD's they offer are often in genres that you wouldn't regularly browse...I mean, I don't know why they keep offering me Black Hawk Down and Behind Enemy Lines, when I rarely look in that section (War, I guess?).
Just my theory.
