I heard about two years ago that this disc was in the works for a re-release as a special ed. complete with the delightful Gilliam commentary and some deleted material as well as some promotional material...any news on this? What studio currently owns the rights to its video release? Is it still Columbia? Oh how I enjoy this film and would love for it to be released on DVD in the Special Edition format...though the Tristar disc I have now is nothing short of spectacular in the video department...though I do wish there were an updated 5.1 mix of the soundtrack. The prologic track is adequate, but nowhere near what this track could be...

I have the Criterion LD. I'd love to see whomever has the rights be able to put the LD's features on a DVD with a sweet anamorphic presentation.

I've repeatedly put off buying the current DVD, cuz I figure an SE has GOT to hit the shelves someday!
I really love this flick, and would buy a CC edition in a millisecond.
Well, maybe not a millisecond...but I'd definitely pre-order. ;)

I paid a whopping $109 for my criterion Collection laser of it many years ago. It was worth every penny then and still is now!

Well, Criterion and Columbia were able to form a meeting of the minds over Holy Grail, so there's hope yet for ports of both Baron Munchausen and Criterion's also absolutely amazing Fisher King LD.

Yeah, it would be nice to finally complete the "Dreams Triogy" on Criterion DVD (Time Bandits, Brazil, and hopefully Munchausen)

Yes. And I will get down on my knees and beg CTS to give this an
expert Remaster-
I own both the CC and the CTS LDs- and they both look superior-even in Analog-to the current DVD.
The LDs are a joy to watch-to me, the DVD is painfull.
There is something wrong with the coloring on this disc.

If Criterion had a go at it, likely it would get done right.

CTS' FISHER KING disc is OK, but im sure Criterion could still improve upon it.

I saw that too (in the Digital Bits recent cover art update).
A March 1st street date but a ~$10 price point? Too cheap for a superbit. I really have no idea.

It's another movie-only disc. The only difference appears to be anamorphic enhancement. So, I guess this means a new transfer.

It's just a price drop. Amazon always lists titles with a new release date when the studios plan to drop the price.

I had no idea. I guess seeing it in the Upcoming DVD cover art section on the Bits' website made me think it was well, a new release. It's never too early in the day to learn something new (12:30 am) :)

I thought the original edition was also Anamorphic...?
This needs to be a remastered Superbit 2 disc UE...
