Does anyone know if Criterion has to renew all their licenses for their catalogue if they are going to re-release them on HD-DVD or BluRay? I know that a lot of Criterion laserdiscs weren't made into DVDs... hope we can still look forward to a great run for Criterion in the new formats!

As soon as studios begin producing HD/Blu-Ray titles, I'll only be purchasing new titles in the respective hi-def formats. I won't purchase a player until a dual format unit becomes available and at a decent price. I've wrestled with the question of double and triple dipping for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Disc upgrades to my existing collection. Given that both technologies will offer backwards compatablity with existing DVD software, the only fims currently in my collection that I would want to upgrade are:

The Wizard of Oz
The Star Wars Saga
The Adventures of Indiana Jones
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Braveheart
Alien
The Matrix
Jaws
Schindler's List
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Tommy Boy
Strange Brew

Anything on my wish list that I currently do not own would of course get modified to HD or Blu-Ray.
