Eric's sister and Donna's mom both disappeared this season, without any explanation what so ever. Doesn't seem like either of these actresses would have a better job to go to. So what happened to them?

Rumor says substance abuse for both. Laurie left last year, though.

According to my TiVo, the storyline for next week's episode deals with Donna's Mom leaving her Dad. So looks like they'll cover that loose end.
I've also read that the actress who played Eric's sister has cleaned up her act and may return this season.

By my calculations, they should be there by now... They were all excited about Star Wars (1977) about three seasons ago...

Here is the year breakdown as I have seen it based on the license plate at the beginnning and end of each show:
    1st season (mid-season intro) 1976
2nd season (full season) 1976 (first few shows)-1977
3rd season (full season) 1977 - 1978 (last few shows)
    4th season (this year)- 1978
So at this rate, they won't hit the end of 1979 until the end of the 5th season. But even so, doesn't 1980 count as the 70's although most think it doesn't.
The series should end soon because the gang will turn 18 (except Kelso who's a year older). So the mystique of being a teenager will be gone since you can buy alcohol at 18 in Wisconsin. (At least in that 70's show, you can.)

I remember reading that they intend to take the show into the 80's, but don't intend to change the name... [IMG]

Dawson's Creek (they are off to college, and the creek they lived by is no longer in the picture, let's change the name, or cancel the show... [IMG])
