I dig the Tull Parker. (or as my nephew calls 'em Jethro Toe) :) My taste in music has always been geared to that era. Even back a few decades ago in High School, when the other kids where groovin' to the latest Van Halen, Motley Crue & the multitudes of Euro-synth bands I'd be listening to the likes of "Quadrophenia", "Strange Days" & "Wish You Were Here". :D
**hangs head in shame**
Stevo,
Thanks for the um.........weird looking poster art. ;)

Do you listen to any old Genesis with Peter Gabriel? I am a big fan of groups were the lyrics are as good as the music. Ian Anderson can always spin a great story.

And the sand-castle virtues are all swept away in

the tidal destruction

the moral melee.

The elastic retreat rings the close of play as the last wave uncovers the newfangled way.

But your new shoes are worn at the heels and

your suntan does rapidly peel and

your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

And the love that I feel is so far away:

I'm a bad dream that I just had today -- and you

shake your head and say it's a shame.

Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth.

Draw the lace and black curtains and shut out the whole truth.

Spin me down the long ages: let them sing the song.

Stevo,
Cool flick. I believe it featured every known Brit at the time cept Sean Connery & Ringo Starr. ;)
Parker,
I love classic Genesis w/Gabriel. :emoji_thumbsup: Back in the day I was a lyricist/vocalist in a band so I doubly appreciate the importance of lyrics.
Meanwhile back in the year one
when you belonged to no-one
You didn’t stand a chance son,
if your pants were undone.
cause you were bred for humanity and sold to society
One day you’ll wake up in the present day
A million generations removed from expectations
Of being who you really want to be.
Skating away
Skating away
Skating away on the thin ice of the new day.
So as you push off from the shore,
Won’t you turn your head once more and make your peace with everyone?
For those who choose to stay,
Will live just one more day
To do the things they should have done.
And as you cross the wilderness, spinning in your emptiness
You feel you have to pray.
Looking for a sign
That the universal mind has written you into the passion play.
Skating away on the thin ice of the new day.
And as you cross the circle line, the ice-wall creaks behind
You’re a rabbit on the run.
And the silver splinters fly in the corner of your eye
Shining in the setting sun.
Well, do you ever get the feeling that the story’s
Too damn real and in the present tense?
Or that everybody’s on the stage, and it seems like
You’re the only person sitting in the audience?
Skating away on the thin ice of the new day.

Walking across the sitting-room, I turn the television off.

Sitting beside you, I look into your eyes.

As the sound of motor cars fades in the night time,

I swear I saw your face change, it didn't seem quite right.

...And it's hello babe with your guardian eyes so blue

Hey my baby don't you know our love is true.

Coming closer with our eyes, a distance falls around our bodies.

Out in the garden, the moon seems very bright,

Six saintly shrouded men move across the lawn slowly.

The seventh walks in front with a cross held high in hand.

...And it's hey babe your supper's waiting for you.

Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true.

I've been so far from here,

Far from your warm arms.

It's good to feel you again,

It's been a long long time. Hasn't it?

I know a farmer who looks after the farm.

With water clear, he cares for all his harvest.

I know a fireman who looks after the fire.

You, can't you see he's fooled you all.

Yes, he's here again, can't you see he's fooled you all.

Share his peace,

Sign the lease.

He's a supersonic scientist,

He's the guaranteed eternal sanctuary man.

Look, look into my mouth he cries,

And all the children lost down many paths,

I bet my life you'll walk inside

Hand in hand,

gland in gland

With a spoonful of miracle,

He's the guaranteed eternal sanctuary man.

We will rock you, rock you little snake,

We will keep you snug and warm.

Wearing feelings on our faces while our faces took a rest,

We walked across the fields to see the children of the West,

But we saw a host of dark skinned warriors

standing still below the ground,

Waiting for battle.

The fight's begun, they've been released.

Killing foe for peace...bang, bang, bang. Bang, bang, bang...

And they're giving me a wonderful potion,

'Cos I cannot contain my emotion.

And even though I'm feeling good,

Something tells me I'd better activate my prayer capsule.

Today's a day to celebrate, the foe have met their fate.

The order for rejoicing and dancing has come from our warlord.

Wandering through the chaos the battle has left,

We climb up a mountain of human flesh,

To a plateau of green grass, and green trees full of life.

A young figure sits still by a pool,

He's been stamped "Human Bacon" by some butchery tool.

(He is you)

Social Security took care of this lad.

We watch in reverence, as Narcissus is turned to a flower.

A flower?

If you go down to Willow Farm,

to look for butterflies, flutterbyes, gutterflies

Open your eyes, it's full of surprise, everyone lies,

like the focks on the rocks,

and the musical box.

Oh, there's Mum & Dad, and good and bad,

and everyone's happy to be here.

There's Winston Churchill dressed in drag,

he used to be a British flag, plastic bag, what a drag.

The frog was a prince, the prince was a brick, the brick was an egg, the egg was a bird.

(Fly away you sweet little thing, they're hard on your tail)

Hadn't you heard?

(They're going to change you into a human being!)

Yes, we're happy as fish and gorgeous as geese,

and wonderfully clean in the morning.

We've got everything, we're growing everything,

We've got some in

We've got some out

We've got some wild things floating about

Everyone, we're changing everyone,

you name them all,

We've had them here,

And the real stars are still to appear.

ALL CHANGE!

Feel your body melt;

Mum to mud to mad to dad

Dad diddley office, Dad diddley office,

You're all full of ball.

Dad to dam to dum to mum

Mum diddley washing, Mum diddley washing,

You're all full of ball.

Let me hear you lies, we're living this up to the eyes.

Ooee-ooee-ooee-oowaa

Momma I want you now.

And as you listen to my voice

To look for hidden doors, tidy floors, more applause.

You've been here all the time,

Like it or not, like what you got,

You're under the soil (the soil, the soil),

Yes, deep in the soil (the soil, the soil, the soil!).

So we'll end with a whistle and end with a bang

and all of us fit in our places.

With the guards of Magog, swarming around,

The Pied Piper takes his children underground.

Dragons coming out of the sea,

Shimmering silver head of wisdom looking at me.

He brings down the fire from the skies,

You can tell he's doing well by the look in human eyes.

Better not compromise.

It won't be easy.

666 is no longer alone,

He's getting out the marrow in your back bone,

And the seven trumpets blowing sweet rock and roll,

Gonna blow right down inside your soul.

Pythagoras with the looking glass reflects the full moon,

In blood, he's writing the lyrics of a brand new tune.

And it's hey babe, with your guardian eyes so blue,

Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true,

I've been so far from here,

Far from your loving arms,

Now I'm back again, and babe it's gonna work out fine.

Can't you feel our souls ignite

Shedding ever changing colours,

in the darkness of the fading night,

Like the river joins the ocean,

as the germ in a seed grows

We have finally been freed to get back home.

There's an angel standing in the sun,

and he's crying with a loud voice,

"This is the supper of the mighty one",

Lord of Lords,

King of Kings,

Has returned to lead his children home,

To take them to the new Jerusalem.

When you're falling awake and you take stock of the new day,

and you hear your voice croak as you choke on what you need to say,

well, don't you fret, don't you fear,

I will give you good cheer.

Life's a long song.

Life's a long song.

Life's a long song.

If you wait then your plate I will fill.

As the verses unfold and your soul suffers the long day,

and the twelve o'clock gloom spins the room,

you struggle on your way.

Well, don't you sigh, don't you cry,

lick the dust from your eye.

Life's a long song.

Life's a long song.

Life's a long song.

We will meet in the sweet light of dawn.

As the Baker Street train spills your pain all over your new

dress,

and the symphony sounds underground put you under duress,

well don't you squeal as the heel grinds you under the wheel.

Life's a long song.

Life's a long song.

Life's a long song.

But the tune ends too soon for us all.

Page 284? You're a year and 94 pages behind Elijah, read faster dude!!
What!! You mean we arent talking about how Anime=The Devil *gasp*...

Actually one of the articles "Man Shoots Self in Rear End" made me think of a dream I had last night *must have eaten something off*...

I was carrying a handgun in my belt (a glock of some model) when it went off and shot me in the toe. I was pretty upset cause i looked like an idiot, and couldnt help out in whatever agency i was working for (something top secret and ultra elite im sure). The weirdest part was me taking what seemed like hours to take my shoe and sock off (with large amounts of blood) to take a look at my toe...Of course in my dreams I get a gun, and what happens I shoot myself...*sigh* its going to be a long day.

hmmm could mean something Elijah, you should get one of those dream deciphering books, look up "shooting myself" and see what it says.;)
I was being chased by velociraptors in a recent dream... and I remember being more concerned that I was running around in my fluffy bunny slippers than that I was about to be eaten by raptors, weird.
DVDSpot eh Ray? I tried a couple of these online organiser thingies, but soon got bored of updating them and stuck to me ol'fashioned desktop database, I can add as much information as I like to each film and only takes a minute or two to update, what's more no one can see what I'm buying, yay!! :D

You may want to consider re-visiting them. Not only can you make them private, or even password protected, but most are much quicker to add DVDs to your collection then the time it would take to put in your own info.
Usually I just type the 10-digit UPC number. In a couple seconds I get
  • Title
  • Description
  • Production Year
  • Cast & Crew Lists
  • Studio & Distributor
  • Running Time
  • Genres
  • MPAA Rating
  • DVD Release Date
  • MSRP
  • Region Code
  • Disc Format
  • Front & Back Cover Scans
  • List of all Audio Tracks
  • List of all Video Formats
  • List of all Special Features
  • Easter Eggs
  • (and more)
Not bad for a few seconds per disk. :D
In addition you can add
  • Purchase Date
  • Purchased From
  • Price
  • Notes (which can be filtered and searched)
You can also customize the database as well as the look and feel using different skins.
DVD Profiler also allows you to make customized reports and stats on your collection. (which can sometimes be a scary thing when you find out how much money you spend)
In fact for those that don't want to type the UPC number, you can also add a DVD and all that info by simply putting the DVD in your PC's DVD drive. DVD Profiler even supports the use of a USB bar code reader (which can be bought for under $20) so then all you have to do is swipe the bar code on each DVD and voila... it's in your collection. :D
I used to use my own database until I realized how much time I was wasting adding even the most basic info.
Steve, we need you to spend more time making screenshot quizzes so download DVD Profiler, buy a USB bar code reader, and use the time saved in the future to entertain us. :)

Nils,

But the last time I checked you still couldn't add all of your currently stored titles (in your db) batchwise to DVDprofiler. This was the reason I held off six or seven years ago, and now my collection has ahem, grown, so the problem is even more serious.

With a bar code reader you could probably add over a thousand DVD's in under an hour.
Imagine how long it would take to add information on a thousand DVD's by hand to a database?

Speaking of DVD Database goodness...Does anybody here have a unique way of using their database? I have heard of the Binder with glossy printed pages on the coffee table, or excel sheet on the laptop...
I for one am working on creating a web interface using PHP to display/search my DVD info which is stored in a mySql database. What makes this even more exciting is that I own a 400 disc DVD changer (Sony 777ES) which can be controled by the RS232 port (computers serial port). So when I click the "Watch DVD", or "Go to chapter *" button in the web interface, it automatically tells my DVD player to play that disc, and by using Girder will switch the Receiver and PJ inputs automatically...
/brag
I should say all of this is a work in progress, but I am interested what you guys do
Nils: What kind of time are you looking at on 26K connection though? ;)
