She's no Nastassja Kinski!!

You know what I watched recently and really liked? True Detective Season 3. Pop culture seemed to bag on the series after celebrating season 1, but three was really good. It might have a career best performance from Stephen Dorff, another guy that seemed to be getting a big push but never really landed. Season 3 also had a pretty good story telling gimmick. I'd recommend it.

Other series I really liked was THE LAST DANCE on the Chicago bulls. I've never watched a basketball game in my life. What a world!
I haven't seen any of "True Detective" yet. Stephen Dorff's recent show "Deputy" was cancelled. It was pretty good, but I actually think the look of the show might have turned people off. It often had that sepia-toned look of some films and perhaps was not colorful enough for some.

Russell, I saw most of "The Last Dance", too. I can't believe you've never seen a basketball game. Best game in the world.

I've been able to clear some space on my DVR -- finished S3 of "Killing Eve" and S3 of "The Sinner". Have started S4 of "Better Call Saul".

I actually am not missing going to the movie theater too much. Guess I've been watching so many movies at home. We are required to wear masks in Hawaii right now, and most stores will not let you in without one. Our theaters are not open yet. There is a 14-day self-quarantine required for visitors or Hawaii resident returnees.

Yep it was naughty Jennifer Lawrence posing with snake. She's still in her 20's would you believe. I liked her in the Hunger Games and X-Men series. I also enjoyed Passengers. I thought it was underrated. I can't really recommend Mother! I'll bet Russellmania enjoyed that one.

Cinemas don't open here until 31st July. It'll be interesting to see how they sort out the seating. I want to see Bond and Tenet on the big screen. Not so much Wonder Woman.

Seriously? Yeah, now that I look at her face. ;)
What could you have been looking at before???

:D

Steve: J-Law was also good in that mop movie...

I've also seen The House at the End of the Street (a rare scary movie for me--just cuz she's in it) and Winter's Bone (excellent!). Oh...and Silver Linings Playbook (also good).

Mike, I remember enjoying that mop movie, but shh don't tell anyone. X-Men yeah that's the ticket. ;)

If I remember correctly J-Law's character grumbled about being part of the 'X-Men' in that last movie, maybe she wanted it renamed 'X-People' it doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Here in the UK every time there's a protest the police form a ring round Churchill's statue. Might be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. Throw a net over them. John Wayne's statue still standing? The Duke! "fill yer hand you sonofabitch". Classic.

I'm currently watching Kirk Douglas in Ace in the Hole whilst typing this, yes I do occasionally glance at the TV. I've seen it before.

 Sorry about that, there was a time when that's all we were posting in this thread, about 16 or 17 years ago. And than I went thru my movie screenshot phase and people grumbled.

No worries we balanced it out by posting hundreds of shots of a nearly naked Sean Connery.

Is this the right place to post dumb things dumb people do?

The Meridian Fire Department says one family is displaced after fireworks set their house on fire.

It happened in the 1500 block of Pantanella Drive.

A fire department official says the homeowner put spent fireworks in a plastic bucket and set it on the porch. A fire official says there was no water in the bucket so it caught fire.

When I was young I used to light fireworks inside the house, my parents were not amused.

Okay, they were actually indoor fireworks, but it's still a miracle I didn't set the house on fire.

More anecdotes? Okay, as a kid I loved starting fires in our garden (US = backyard). And when I run out of objects to burn I would tear down the wooden fencing separating our neighbors garden and burn that. Luckily they were friendly and never complained. Eventually our two gardens became one.

Cool video Dennis and very American. :)

I've avoided wearing a virus mask for months but now I have no choice, it's now mandatory to wear masks in shops (US = stores) here in the UK. Curses! We've already had demonstrations in Hyde Park against this new law. My problem with mask wearing is that I feel like I'm being smothered and I gag very easily. I've practiced wearing one while on the computer. I just have to get my mind off the fact there's something covering my mouth, and take short breaths.

It just floors me when someone says they won’t, or don’t want to, wear a mask. I can only imagine two reasons for this: 1) The person thinks he’s immortal; or 2) He believes COVID-19 is a hoax.

If a person thinks COVID-19 is real, is fatal, or can leave life long damage, hell, that person should want to wear a hard-hat diving mask. Ok, I slightly exaggerate.

I have asthma and a paralyzed diaphragm, so my breathing is compromised before I put on the mask, but I WANT TO PUT ON THE MASK!

Johnny I was at the supermarket yesterday and only a couple of people were wearing masks, even the people working there were 'mask-free', well from today the law says you have to wear a mask. And a lot of people don't like it. They think the virus is on the way out, they should watch the reports from America. I suppose the general impression in the UK is 'it won't happen to me I'll be careful'. I managed to wear a mask for 30mins before taking it off, I'm slowly getting used to it. I have to, now.

From what you said about yourself I'm surprised you can stand the mask on your face impeding your breathing. My first reaction was to retch, I had to take a deep breath.

'it won't happen to me I'll be careful'.
During a deadly pandemic, what is being careful? I’d say it starts with social distancing and wearing a mask. And assuming no one is going to take better care of you, than you. Others not wearing a mask only makes it more imperative that you wear a mask.
