So even getting a knighthood didn't impress Mick Jagger. He's having his valve job done in New York.
Aloha Dennis, breaking news... we're still in the EU. [sobs] May and Corbyn in bed together... fire and brimstone coming down from the skies.. dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
Coming up... a different sort of Joker
Last film watched at the cinema: Arctic
Last films bought on Blu-ray: Burning (Korean) and Widows
Last film watched on Netflix. Don't have Netflix. I do intend to subscribe when "Lucifer" starts.
Last TV Show I watched on Netflix: No Netflix yet, but doing a discounted promo period for Showtime. Mainly wanted to catch up with "Billions", which is currently on S4 and I only saw S1 back when it originally aired. Fantastic show.
Last Blu-ray watched: Can't remember! Pretty busy with TV and books right now.
Got back from Vegas several days ago. Went to see Tesla, and my usual favorite Vegas bands. Tesla was fantastic! Loved the appreciative crowd, too. I'd only seen them once before when they opened for Def Leppard (with Poison also on the bill). The new songs sounded pretty good and their "Shock" CD arrived while I was away.
I legit don't know what to think of that "Joker" trailer, or that Liz regular flies to Vegas to see Tesla...
this week in movies I caught up on a couple of Carol Reed films (ODD MAN OUT and NIGHT TRAIN TO MUNICH, both very good) and slept my way through a Suzuki Seijan film. I'm telling you, melatonin and subtitles and you get the best sleep ever! It's going to take me a month to put down the 5 films in this boxset I got.
They made a SHAZAM movie and it opened last night? Had no idea that had happened. What a world! I might give AQUAMAN a spin this weekend.
Carol Reed - a flexible man. He did both The Third Man and The Agony And The Ecstasy. He was as flexible as Robert Wise who did The Day The Earth Stood Still and The Sound Of Music.
Winston: "we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender …"
I guess the Brits have a history of not giving up on things.
Another delay Dennis, Halloween for christousakes! Really fed up with Brexit, that woman and her preciousss deal.
Finally watched that Netflix film everyone was talking about [cue 'eh what when?' from the droogs] oh you know... Sandra Bollocks and that alien invasion movie 'Bird Box' I mean if you were making an alien invasion movie would you call it 'Bird Box' ?
Anyway the twist in this one is that if you 'see' an alien you go mad and kill yourself. Sandra and the other main characters have to move about the city and countryside blindfolded, the evil invaders trying their best to make them look. The filmmakers in their infinite wisdom decided that we the viewers shouldn't see the aliens either in case we go insane and leap out of the window (not too bad if you're on the ground floor). So the only glimpse of alien visage is some drawings of hideous beasties.
Steve, I'll likely watch "Bird Box" when I subscribe to Netflix soon (mainly to watch "Lucifer". Thank goodness Netflix saved the show after FOX cancellation). I read the novel a while back and it was OK. Also really want to see "The Dirt" on Netflix. That book was great!!
Hi Elizabeth, I'm looking forward to Lucifer too. Glad it was picked up.
Netflix is affordable, only £5.99 a month for the basic package here in the UK, And you can watch your films and shows whenever you like. Plus every new episode of a show is available to watch, none of that once a week crap. There is plenty of Manga animation and weird foreign sh!t if you get bored of normal programming. What I don't like is the layout, unless you know exactly what to look for it can get tedious skimming thru all the categories, contents and subjects.
"weird foreign sh!t", let me introduce you to one of the best, most banana's action films, THE NIGHT COMES FOR US.
The Night Comes For Us sounds interesting Russ, just checked up on it, one reviewer said it "makes John Wick look like child's play" another said it was "a strong contender for the most excessively violent, blood-drenched action flick ever made." mmmm
Both descriptions completely accurate.
Steve, come to America.
In 1944, British troops liberate Brussels.. How ironic.
Dukie’s birthday is today. He turns 13 so he’s now a teenager.
I suppose he’s really 68 in cat years though. He may be slowing down somewhat but he has ways of compensating so that the birds and squirrels don’t get away from him. Around these parts he’s known as Dead-eye Duke, just like his namesake John Wayne.
[Duke is portrayed by an actor cat in the photo.]
aaww how cute. Dennis cat posing with one of his handguns, I like it! Jack Briggs would have loved it.... Jaaackkk! Zeeeennnn!
Police in London discovered a fun way of stopping moped gangs from terrorizing the populace, ram them with their police cars. Unfortunately some of them got carried away and didn't care who they were ramming, it's not a video game dammit!
The Night Comes for Us is definitely not my cup of tea. I like action, but cannot watch excessively violent/gory/gruesome stuff.
Have been getting a bit lazy to go out to the movies recently. It's too easy to wait a few months and watch it at home. I guess I will see "Endgame" in several weeks, though. I'm also interested in "Long Shot" as I like Charlize and can use some comedy, too.
Have 2 new foster kitties who are two-month old females. Pretty scared of me yet. They don't like being held, so it will be a challenge giving them eye drops and oral medicine for their upper respiratory infections.
for he himself has said it,
and it's greatly to his credit,
that he is an englishman!
for he might have been a roosian,
a french, or turk, or proosian,
or perhaps itali-an!
but in spite of all temptations
to belong to other nations,
he remains an englishman!
