Look at old movies, e.g. any old Sherlock Holmes films. Gentlemen in London always carried a piece with them. They didn't have problems like this back then.

Today is also the Battle of Midway day, although the battle lingered on for a few more days. Poor Japanese communications security and the forerunners of the US NSA tipped the battle into the Allies favor. The Japanese had 9 battleships and 4 carriers: the US no battleships and 3 carriers, one of which was still battle damaged. We sank all 4 Japanese carriers and their fleet had to run home to their mommas. It was the most humiliating defeat of Japanese arms in 5,000 years of recorded history.

I'd say that the Battle of Midway occupies in US history what the Battle of Trafalgar occupies in British history.

Well it probably isn't Doris-Day. Now Dennis Day was a child star Mouseketeer. Then there is yet another Dennis Day.

Dennis was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, to a family with no show business background. He is no relation to the Dennis Day who sang on The Jack Benny Show and other fifties television programs (and anyway, that guy's name was really Owen Patrick McNulty).

Well as a foreigner I shouldn't make any statements about elections in the UK, come what May.
Just vote early and often. Can you sneak down to London and vote there too? IIUC polls close at 10 PM BST.
