Avatar doesn't interest me, somehow. . . If it's still around, I may see the Austrian film Revanche this weekend, instead.
I decided not to blind-buy Basterds. I might eventually give it a shot as a rental.
I watched The Burning Plain last night. It's written and directed by Guillermo Arriaga, who wrote Babel and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, films I love. This one was pretty interesting, also, once all the story threads wove together.

You know, Avatar doesn't really interest me either. I haven't seen the trailer yet, and I'm assy about all these damned 3D movies. The pictures I've seen of it don't interest me, the casting is a yahn and what I have heard of it makes it sound like a bore fest. But... it's a James Cameron film so I feel the need to see it in the theaters. It will be my first IMAX 3D picture, I just hope it owrks for me. they call me one eye :(

Avatar will be the last film I see at the cinema this year, and I'm hoping it will easily top the other films I've seen in 2009. I saw a 20min making of on tv at the weekend and it does look really spectacular. Roger Ebert saw it and was gobsmacked, said it was like seeing Star Wars for the first time, I love old Ebert he still gets giddy and excited about the big new films. Other critics you can tell they're bored out of their minds and go and see these films just to get their paycheck. Eberts a Steve-friendly critic. /img/vbsmilies/htf/biggrin.gif
Russ, I saw the crappy ending version of Paranormal Activities.

Thats a great title for a film Russellini, I would go and see a film called Tomorrow is Basterds, wouldn't you? Or how about... Basterds Origin? No? The Incredible Basterds? Basterds Forever? Quantum of Basterds? The Good the Bad and the Basterds? Hairy Putter and the Half-Blood Basterd? For a few Basterds More? Starship Basterds? The Day the Basterd Stood Still? Revenge of[ENOUGH STEVE!]

    So, everyone ready for Christmas?

Russ, loved your post in the complaint thread. I felt the need for a group hug. Man hugs.

The only thing "green" about fluorescent lighing is the money the companies make off you. They SUCK! The life span is 1/10 what the packaging states.

I'm going back to all incandescent!

How DARE you waltz in here with your beastly accusations about the worth of fluorescent lighting! We here in Testy Area 51 rely on the amazing, staggering, nay beautiful godlike ability of fluorescent to show off our ghostly skin pallor at it's best! We shall never, ever, NEVER go back to those foul, offensive incandescent bulbs again I dare say!!! Prum prum wot wot good day sir!!

I doubt I see Avatar until it comes out on Blu. Still not sold on any of the 3D that I have seen. The glasses are still a pain when you already wear glasses as I am always thinking about the glasses and how much they bug the shit out of me and not about the movie itself. And you can't enjoy a film being shown for 3D without the glasses unless you want to go mad.

Good point Parker, I'm going to skip this. When I tried the 3D in Coraline on Blu the glasses were a real bugger to put on over or under my regular glasses. James Cameron can go to hell! /img/vbsmilies/htf/mad.gif
Close Encounters of the Basterd Kind.... this joke is pretty much endless in it's entertainment value. :P

Apocalypse Basterd. The Basterds of Navarone. The English Basterd (oi watch it mate!). Jurassic Basterd. Reservoir Basterds.
I hope Avatar is being shown in 2D too. I'm not that excited by 3D. Ebert says it dims the picture.
The League of Extraordinary Basterds. Planet of the Basterds.

Oh yeah, there might be 2D showings... I might of been a bit rash telling James Cameron to go to hell. Sorry!

I'll wait for Avatar on Blu. 3D is for basterds. Crowded theaters are full of basterds and I don't like basterds.
