You won't find in your code, but if you actually did "View Source" on this page, you'll see that for every carriage-return/line-feed in your table code, there is a in the code above, which is why you're getting a ton of space between "Random gibberish" and the start of the table.
That's the forum software doing that -- you can't control it. So, do your editing locally on your machine, and when you're ready to upload it, remove all the line breaks.

P.S., table looks great! I'd find a symbol for "NONE" if you can (maybe a turkey? ) or a "0", or boldface it or something. Also, black text with a dark green background makes it a little harder to read -- perhaps a lighter green or white text? Just some suggestions.

I do the editing on my computer in Notepad, and then when it's done I copy and paste the text into the message window.
Are you saying you want me to do "View Source" after I make my post, take the code from there, remove all tags, and then resubmit it?
And thanks for the suggestions, btw: that dark green is hard to read. I'll choose something lighter and try to find an appropriate symbol for movies with no stars.

The lighter green makes the text easier to read, definitely. And the "NONE" was just a suggestion, not a mandatory thing
As to the tags, that's what the forum software does when it sees a line feed:
(^ the line feed above becomes a )
If you look at the source of THIS page, you'll find the line feeds have all been converted to s, and they always go outside the TABLE. You could take the forum source and remove the s, or you could take your notepad source and remove the line feeds. Either way will get rid of all that space.

OK, here's the thing:

In the code for my table, I did not insert any page breaks at all; like you said, the vB software did that automatically. So I did "View Source," copied the code I had in there, removed all the line feed/page break coding, and resubmitted, which gave me the post you see above.

Please bear with me here, as I am not apparently getting what you're saying. [slaps forehead]

Oh, and I did finally fix that garbled text problem: turns out I forgot to close the tag! [slaps forehead again]

It looks like you have whitespaces in your table. I can tell you from experience that you should remove all spaces, line feeds, etc between tags and between text.
