My tiny (1,040 square foot) house in San Jose sold today. It was only on the market a week. Selling price $657,000, or over $7,000 over asking price. Sold strictly in "as is" condition. Short 21 day escrow period. I had multiple offers and took the best one.

The San Jose real estate market is still crazy, no matter what kind of hand-wringing the mainstream media is making over the so-called "housing bubble".

House #2 $700k in Loudonville, suburb of Albany)
House #3 ($570k in East Greenbush, suburb of Rensselaer & Albany)
You could be quite comfortable here...and do much better than these houses I did on a quick search of the area.
