This gorgeous film from 1979 - possibly one of the best book-to-film adaptations - has never been made available on DVD, neither in the USA nor in Europe (where I live). Can anybody explain the mystery behind it?

In my opinion, there aren't enough superlatives to go around for this utterly beautiful movie! This is one of the best dramatic films ever made, and certainly the very best that Roman Polanski has ever directed. It is high time that COLUMBIA/TRISTAR put this engrossing film out on DVD. They just did a great DVD job of Polanski's MACBETH, so come on COLUMBIA, let's see TESS get the same treatment! She deserves it.
