I just saw the movie on one of our cable HD channels recently, and I thought to myself, "they need to release a proper version on DVD already", and here's the great news!

That first cover is hideous... At least all three are better than the current DVD I've got!

I voted for option number three. This is very welcome news.

I dunno...Cover #1 almost strikes me as being something straight out of a Terry Gilliam Flying Circus animated sequence. Oddly appropriate, in a way.

I voted for Cover #3, but #1 was my second choice.

Where do you vote on the covers? I didn't see any at Amazon. I was hoping to see larger versions. The third one looks the most interesting.

Nice, one of my favorite fantasy flicks, a special edition, finally. :emoji_thumbsup:

Btw all three covers are crap, why not use the original?

I'd even take this one -

Oh well once it's on the shelf I suppose it doesn't matter. :)

I really hope they get the colors right this time-the Columbia LD had the best palette IMHO-surprisingly better than the Criterion
the DVD was pretty-blah-that film had some very saturated and nuanced colors, that made the film a joy to watch-

Even when Amazon had the sleeves up for the vote, there wasn't a way of seeing larger versions.

Some information for all of you.

This upcoming release is all-new. Terry Gilliam came in last
summer and oversaw a new transfer of the film and insiders feel
it is the best it has looked. Sony used a top-notch colorist and
Gilliam was involved in all color decisions.

This is all the information I have for you at this moment.

I saw this years ago on VHS and it knocked me out! I've not seen it since; years later I was told by friends (who introduced me to it) that it's best left to fond memories; it doesn't hold up to a second viewing.

What do ya think? Is Baron watchable nearly 20 years later?

Can't wait to see this in high-def. This title just *screams* for high-def with all the details in those sets and costumes...

I'm a modest Gilliam fan. Love 12 Monkeys. Don't recall caring much for Time Bandits. Never saw Brazil.

See Brazil. Now.
And, yes, Baron Munchausen definitely holds up. It's probably Gilliam at his most playful, and is a real delight.
