TERMINATOR 2 Extreme Edition. Region 2 or 4? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know if this title will hit the PAL format anytime soon?

If it aint gonna happen, I'll get the Region 1 version.

I would however, prefer a PAL version if I had the option.

The Ultimate edition is only just about to be released in Australia... it has identical features to the oop Artisan r1 release, including the dts track.

... but misses out on two of the cuts of the film that the R1 has because the R4 has no seamless branching (like the R2).

R1 is the only option for the Extreme Edition at this stage.

Just wondering, for picture quality which way would you go?

PAL Ultimate Edition or NTSC Extreme Edition?

I guess it depends on how good this new transfer is.

But then again, does PAL's higher resolution always make it better?

No it doesn't... it very much depends on the transfer quality. Done right PAL though can look like quite an improvement over the ntsc version... Worth reading reviews closer to release.

Sometimes the extra-lines on a PAL transfer are interpoliated from a NTSC master - resulting in a softer look to the image. Bazically it depends if the producer is willing to spend on obtaining a quality PAL master to make the transfer from.

As a rule PAL transfers are better, but don't assume all PAL transfers are automatically better.

Has anyone compared the PAL Region 2 Ultimate and NTSC Region 1 Extreme Editions of Terminator 2?

Which has the best picture quality?

As the Ultimate Edition is FINALLY coming out in PAL Region 4 next month, I'm not sure whether to wait for that or just get the Region 1 Extreme Edition now.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The R1 Extreme version is much better than the R2 Ultimate Edition. I actually found the R2 Ultimate version to be worse than the R1 Ultimate version
