That's a downer. I've been a fan of some of his films (especially the criminally underrated The Ref and Beautiful Girls). I don't know if I knew before that he was involved in TV's Action, but I loved that, too.

I just read about this over at Salon and I'd like to send my condolences to his family as well. I think Ted was a great talent and he had many more exciting films in him.
I am not a much of a fan of rap, but I have to say that I watch Who's the Man? everytime it comes on the tube. It is a shame that we didn't get an SE of this while Ted was stil alive (hell, it's not on DVD period!)

Holy crap that's weird. Wasn't it Ted Demme just on IFC Sunday night commenting before and after the showing of Run Lola Run with John Reilly??

Certainly a shock. Maybe if you had said his uncle Jonathan.

BTW, IMDb doesn't even have this news up yet themselves.

Wow, 38 is way too young.

I enjoyed Blow a lot more than most, and I'm sorry we won't be seeing more of his work.

Shocking and painful. I loved his films, and I loved watching him on Escape from Hollywood on IFC. He will be missed.

    My condolences as well.

Man, after Beautiful Girls, I'd see anything he did... I think I'll have to watch that tonight.

Indeed, this news was quite a shock to read today. For my money, Beautiful Girls and The Ref are two of the best comedies of the 90's. Who's the Man? was an enjoyable debut and Monument Ave. proved he was equally adept at drama.
A very talented filmmaker...sorry to see him go at such an early age.

It is said that to judge a man, see how he is received by the people around him. Over the course of his short career, I never heard anything but positive about this man, who love of movies period seems to have outspanned his love of directing. It is trully a loss to the world. Best wishes to his wife and two children.
