I'm not sure if my Technics a-10 is hooked up properly into my Onkyo 787. I'm using optical connectors right now. I only get the front left and right channels to respond when I use the test section of the DVD-A demo disc even though I KNOW they're all working properly. Putting the receiver in surround puts sound to the rear channels, but it doesn't seem to be full-range sound. Do I need to use the pre-outs for each channel from my DVD player to the receiver?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Paul, with any DVD-Audio player, you must use the 5.1-channel outputs for playback of DVD-Audio material at full resolution. Otherwise, the output is downconverted to what I believe is 16/48 PCM. So, you need to run six RCA cables between your 'A10 and your Onkyo 'DS787 receiver.
