Technical Question Regard a Digital SACD Feed

    If and when the studios figure out a copy protection standard and SACD players are allowed to provide a direct digital feed to a pre/pro, will current pre/pros on the market be able to be software upgradable to handle the new digital format, or would one need to replace their hardware?

    Depends on what product you own. it will require a new interface, which is hardware. It may require new DSP, etc.
    You will probably need to buy all new hardware.
    There are a couple companies doing that now if you don't mind spend $15k-$20k.
