Follow Me, Boys was great.

Man, you got THAT right, Tony!

I haven't enjoyed a film that much in a long time.

It's kinda like Walt Disney's version of It's a Wonderful Life...and while not a "great" film like IaWL, it's damn entertaining! And a real "feel good" watch.

And, Peg and I are now humming the Sherman Brothers' "Follow Me, Boys!" all day long! :D

Mike I said that same exact thing.
It was a decent version of It's.
Very good. Very enjoyable.

Okay...so I just had some things happened to me that hadn't happened in a very long time.

1.) I liked Follow Me, Boys! so much I purchased a DVD. An infrequent occurrence these days.

full

2.) And, the copy (purchased for just $3 from a 3rd-party Amazon seller) was delivered as a floater. Another rare occurrence lately.

3.) But the worst thing... I had forgotten all about this possibility. On this 2004 disc, the film is MAR!!! I forgot all about those issues. Never gave it a thought. plus, the image is much more washed out and has plenty more artifacts than what was on TCM.

Some lousy screen grabs on my cell phone:

TCM

full

DVD:

full

Oh well. Maybe it'll be the next DMC exclusive! :D

Mike, I've run into the MAR problem for so many Disney movies from that period that id like to see. A lot of them are now on iTunes and Vudu to rent in HD and OAR. I end up renting them there. I'd rather own them on disc but if it's a choice between the ugly MAR disc and renting the pretty HD OAR version, I rent. I'm kicking myself for missing this recent TCM showing!

Boo. The iTunes is HD and OAR, though. I'll probably be renting it soon.

The last one of those I made that mistake on was The Moon Spinners. I know better now.

Hoping there will be a Vault Disney presentation of it one day.

Follow Me Boys is on my wish list of a proper blu ray release. It's such a great film. I was a cub scout and briefly (only made it to second class) a boy scout so it brings back some good memories of working on merit badges, fishing trips, hikes in the woods (unfortunately it's all flat terrain around where I live, but still fun) and pinewood derbies, etc.

The region 2 dvd of The Moonspinners is OAR 1.85.

There's a very good looking OAR streaming version of it in HD as well!

THAT DARN CAT seems to be the only Hayley Mills movie lacking an HD master from Disney.

Man. I could not believe how much I enjoyed Follow Me, Boys!. Classic old-fashioned entertainment.

That's why I instinctively jumped to buy the DVD. Too bad it flat-out sucks. Bring on a Blu!

Yeah, my Mom was a member of the Disney club years ago and jumped on most of the live action Disney films. I'd borrow them after she was done watching them. It's a shame that almost all of those releases were pan and scan full screen. I have a few in my own collection just because of the memories surrounding them, but they definitely all need proper releases.

Most houses that have access to TCM will be able to dvr what they want to watch. Also they're all on the TCM. App for the entire month.

Anywho. Nothing on this list for me.
If they could manage SotS it would get more publicity than anything they ever aired.

I know dead horse, beating it etc.
