Terminator, The Remastered Blu-ray
Cool. I've held off from ordering the overseas release despite being tempted as I want to snag this at a really good price.
But it's not going to please purists who want the original mono mix. No sign of it in these specs.
So no original mix again, I guess.
Yes, that is unfortunate.
I just bought the old one for $10!
After waiting years for this re-master, I'm really frustrated by the missing original audio mix. :f
Right- no original audio, no sale! There's a reason this movie was done with a mono soundtrack!
At a bare miniumum, they should have just included the mono track from the DVD even if it wasn't lossless. That would have required virtually no effort. Maybe they are waiting to do that for the next inevitable release.
didn't they already remaster it? are they remastering it 1 more time?
Yeah, no budget.
It probably will be the same as the european release. The releases are too close. Sad to see all the original DVD bonus documentaries and hidden features go.
I just bought this from Amazon UK. Is this gonna be the exact same disc or am I gonna be stuck with an inferior disc?
Well, to be fair, the reason was only that the producers refused Cameron's request for it, despite his coming in substantially under-budget on the film. If memory serves, he was refused $30,000 for a 4-channel mix after having saved the production some $600,000 (someone, please correct my figures, if I'm off).
Directionality is not so much my concern, but I want the original sound effects and foley, not the new replacement tracks.
Looks to be exactly the same.
And they hated the mix back then too.
No mono, no dice.
The Terminator 4K scan next?
I think this is already 4K. It's just the US release of the european release that came out in september. It looks better than T2.
