I am stupider for having read that.
I'm still getting this disk tho.
Yes on both counts.
I take it this is the theatrical version?
yes. its the theatre version. I own the panasonic one. its still the best 3D on the market.
The extended version in 3D will probably come out in 2013.
I'm in since I don't have the Panasonic version. I'm guessing then that this is a clone of that one, albeit in a combo-pack configuration?
good question. the panasonic had both the 3d and 2d theatre version on it. I wonder if this one will be 3d on the first disc only.. since there is a separate disc for the 2d version.
No extended cut or the exclusive BluRay cut? FOOLISHNESS!
I will not be pleased until I have under my command the full power of each version of the film in 3D.... and a commentary by Cameron.
I'm not a big Avatar fan, but I have been waiting for this general release in order to finally see it in 3d. Theatrical cut is all I want; so I'm in for this release.
Just add the 3-D copy to the 3-disc DVD set you already have, which produces a decent special edition.
I just gave my Panasonic freebie a kiss. Okay, not really, but at least this is one thing I don't have to empty my wallet on this fall!
I hear a strange dipping sound.
Yeah I got a friend to give me his free Panasonic version since he has zero interest in 3D. He was going to throw the order form away and he let me send away for it.
Don't see the point of upgrading unless it's the extended cut. Probably we'll get that along with Avatar 2 lol
Now available for preorder
Mr. Owl, how many dips will it take to get all of the Avatar Blu-rays for Avatar, Avatar 2, Avatar 3 and Avatar 4?
"A good question. Let's find out. Ah-one... ah-TWO-HOOO... ah-three... *CRUNCH* Ah-three."
The world may never know.
$29.99 at Best Buy
Picked up a copy at Future Shop. Nice!
Brought in an old DVD I had zero interest in anymore, and got a $10 Trade and Save coupon towards the purchase of it, bringing the price down to $19.99.
By the way, can anyone tell me why it is that with Avatar, they managed to get both the 3D Blu-Ray, and 2D Blu-Ray on one disc, but with Titanic, the 3D Blu-Ray is spread out over 2 discs, with the 2D Blu-Ray on a separate disc?
For 'Titanic', they changed the aspect ratio to 1.78:1 for the 3D presentation, in addition to other minor visual tweeks (e.g. hair removal) in order to better facilitate 3D. For 2D they wanted to keep the integrity of the original theatrical release, for the most part at any rate (e.g. aspect ratio of 2.35:1).
That makes sense. Thanks!
Has anybody heard any announcement of the extended AVATAR coming out in 3D? I want to wait for that if it's coming out later this year, but if not I want to get the theatrical release 3D. I don't want to wait forever. Bob Blenheim
