I was over at BestBuy the other day and looking (and dreaming) at Plasma TV's. They were displaying football on ESPN HD (Direct TV Feed I assume). The picture on this Tatung, (never heard of it) was amazing. And the price was something like $3,000. I can't be sure but,the price was so much lower than Sony, Pioneer or Panasonic that I noticed. Are these any good or you get what you pay for? I notice a lot of Plasmas from companies you never heard of before. I hope this helps to drive down the cost from the major manufacturers. Sony is nice but I believe they are overpriced. I will not be so loyal on my next purchases, as you see, I own all Sony now.

    George ....

You must have missed the frenzy 2 weeks back when we discovered Dell had the highly rated Panasonic 42" EDTV Plasma for $2400 delivered. Here's the HTF thread

    It only lasted 2 days.

$3k is no longer as good of a deal on a 42" as it used to be.

Tatung, I believe, is a Taiwanese company.

Our family used to own one of their rice cookers [IMG]

FYI, that means that they offer Plasma TVs AND rice cookers -- just like Panasonic does.[IMG]
