My dealer let be borrow a BK Ref 30 this weekend and the difference between it and the Denon 3300 I was using as a pre/pro was amazing. It had tighter, deeper bass, better dynamics, imaging you name it. I am using Paradigm Actives in the front and Studio/20s in the rear. I used my 3300 to drive the 20s. Since I'll be blowing my bank account on a pre/pro I won't have anything left for an amp. Can I continue using my receiver to drive the rears without ill effects? I just connected the Ref 30's surround outputs to the Denon's Ext. Input. I am considering the Ref 30 and the Anthem AVM20. If the AVM20 isn't too much more than the Ref 30 I'll probably go with the Anthem but my dealer didn't have one I could demo.
