I think user "chucklee" (gee, I wonder who he could be?) hit it on the head with the comment that, if you can't hear any differences, then go cheap.

If, on the other hand, you have something remotely resembling a discriminating ear, your experience might reveal what it has for me: almost every different amplifier sounds different.

In that case, go with what sounds best to you within your budget; and if you can't afford what you really like, remember that there is always the used market, and good power amps last and last...
