To make things perfectly clear, you hear this effect when using:
* a source (CD player, turntable, etc)
* the prepro
* the H/K power amplifier
* the IL60s with their powered woofers turned "on"
Correct?
If that H/K amp is acting strangely with this system, I think something may be wrong with it. Because the only speakers it is driving (in each IL60) is a 6.5" midbass, a midrange and a tweeter. IMO that is not that much of a load on an amp like that.....or at least it shouldn't be.
The only other thing I can think of is that the IL60 amps are diverting power from the 120V line that the H/K amp is also using(?) and depriving it of enough power to operate properly (certain electronic circuits can also be damaged by underpowering them, strange as that may seem).
Or if it is just a matter of acoustic output, maybe you just need a pair of these!
