My PC running XP Pro has been slower than molases lateley. A quick check of the Windows Task Manager shows that a process called System Idle Process is using anywhere from 30%-90% of the CPU, but only about 20k of memory. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? I scan for viruses nightly, my virus definition files are up to date as well. Today I removed a bunch of junk using Adaware, but the problem remains.

System Idle is what is NOT being used. If it's showing 90% that means only 10% of the resources are being used at that point in time.

Ok, that makes sense. Either way the graph that shows CPU usage was bouncing betwees 2% and 90%. I think I figured it out anyway. The most recent change to my PC was upgrading Gaim to .70. I checked their website and .71 was out there already. I downloaded that and things seem to be back to normal.
