Syd Mead, futurist and designer for films such as Blade Runner has died (1 Viewer)

Syd Mead is probably not a known name to many but his work is seen in films like Blade Runner, Tron, 2010 The Year We Make Contact and Aliens. I just read that he died.

When I was in college studying industrial design, Syd Mead was a one of the designers we looked up to. He started as a designer at Ford Motor Company and then struck out on his own. His conceptual designs he depicted with Gouache paintings for a US Steel book has become a prized collectors item for its futurist designs of vehicles and future worlds. He went on to design V’Ger for Star Trek The Motion Picture, the spinner and other vehicles and objects in Blade Runner and the vehicles in Aliens. His work has inspired many modern designers such as Daniel Simon who followed a similar career path.

Wow, didn't see this until now, and yeah, hell yeah, I knew his work, mostly from Blade Runner, which was fantastic.
