Very sad. Pipers is still one of my favorites and is a psychedelic classic in my book.

Very sad indeed. Syd is one of my favorite musicians of all-time, and is one of the most influential guitarists ever. Rest in peace you crazy diamond.

I hope that every one of you who bought the PULSE DVD today brings it out and plays Shine On in tribute to Syd.

"It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear that I'm not here."

We "Wish You Were Here". He was a great musician who's career was cut way too short. I'm sure that mental illness is a terrible thing to have to go through. He should finally be able to rest in peace.

Just recently read A Saucerful of Secrets and was a little depressed about Syd, and now this. RIP, Roger (he apparently dropped 'Syd' after his Floyd days and went by his real first name).

I don't consider myself a Pink Floyd fan (the SACD of DSOTM being my only PF title - and I like it a lot). Never listened to Syd's music, but his life has always intrigued me. With that in mind, I am kind of bummed out after hearing about Syd's passing. I am going to pick up "Pulse" and make a toast to Syd....hope you are finally free of your demons.

    RIP, Syd....WYWH

I think it's sad when any human being is prevented from reaching their full potential. Syd was young but he had loads of charisma and talent and seemed fearless, maybe too fearless. I'm sure that others in the band did the same substances that he did but were fortunate to have gotten through unscathed. But all that is history. Rest in peace, Syd.

    BOB DYLAN BLUES

    Got the Bob Dylan blues
    And the Bob Dylan Shoes
And my clothes and my hair's in a mess
But you know I just couldn't care less

    Gonna write me a song
'Bout what's right and what's wrong
About god and my girl and all that
Quiet while I make like a cat

    'Cause I'm a poet
    Don't you know it
And the wind, you can blow it
'Cause I'm Mr. Dylan, the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing

    Roam from town to town
    Guess I get people down
But I don't care too much about that's
'Cause my gut and my wallet are fat

    Make a whole lotta dough
    But I deserve it though
I've got soul and a good heart of gold
So I'll sing about war in the cold

    'Cause I'm a poet
    Don't you know it
And the wind, you can blow it
'Cause I'm Mr. Dylan, the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing

    Well I sings' about dreams
And I rhymes it with seems
'Cause it seems that my dream always means
That I can prophesy all kinds of things

Well the guy that digs me
    Should try hard to see
That he buys all my discs and a hat
And when I'm in town go see that

    'Cause I'm a poet
    Don't you know it
And the wind, you can blow it
'Cause I'm Mr. Dylan, the king
And I'm free as a bird on the wing

I picked up P.U.L.S.E today, watched Shine on You Crazy Diamond, thought about Syd, and then a few hours later I learned of his death. Isn't that strange...

It is sad that he died, but he has left his music behind for us to enjoy and to inspire new musicians. While not many Floyd fans are as familiar with the Syd era, I think I find it as my favourite era...

Wouldn't you miss me? Wouldn't you miss me at all?

Yes Syd, we will miss you...

Had to pull out my Works CD to listen to See Emily Play when I heard the news.

The only time I saw Floyd live was in '87 when I won tickets on the local radio station by recognizing the "Pink Floyd Song of the Day", Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

    RIP Syd.

It makes me wonder how different Pink Floyd would have been had Syd managed to pull himself together way back when.

May he be finally be free of his demons.....rest in peace Syd.

    Shine on, you crazy diamond...

...Members of the band also reported on their featured VH1 episode of Behind The Music that Barrett held a toothbrush and attempted to brush his teeth by holding the brush still and jumping up and down.

In an interview for VH1, Rick Wright spoke about the session, saying: "One thing that really stands out in my mind, that I'll never forget; I was going in to the the Shine On sessions. I went in the studio and I saw this guy sitting at the back of the studio, he was only as far away as you are from me. And I didn't recognise him. I said, 'Who's that guy behind you?' 'That's Syd.' And I just cracked up, I couldn't believe it... he had shaven all his hair off... I mean, his eyebrows, everything... he was jumping up and down brushing his teeth, it was awful."
