WOW!

I'm new here, but I thought I would post this for anyone browsing.

I have been using an Intouch X1 with a $50 radioshack DVD player for about a year now and have been using the s-video connection. I have always noticed small white specks in the image around contrast edges and such. I just assumed that this was normal for a "low end" projector w/ DLP. After browsing yesterday about home theater stuff, I came across this site. After awhile, I realized that I should switch to component video to see what would happen. I went home promptly after having a tooth pulled, popped a couple of Tylenol 3, and made a composite to 15pin adaptor for me system. 2 hours later, I plugged it in and could not believe the difference! No specks, double image size, incredible clarity, and one happy camper. Through in Star Wars Episode V, sat back, and enjoyed the show. Now all I need is a new surround sound reciever (mine seems to be distorting/clipping all of a sudden).

Cheers,
Todd

Yes, I am constantly on the soap box on this one. Most modern displays / projectors are pretty amazing with a 480i component source allowing the display to provide the Progressive Scan.

I'm glad you finally decided to try it.

Thanks Neil, your HT looks outstanding. I still can not believe how incredible my picture looks now. I've had it for over a year and it's like all of a sudden I have a new projector and I think I am now officially addicted.

Glad you went the component route! I always feel like banging my head on a wall when someone tries to argue that SVideo is as good as Component and they aren't willing to switch! It's like never getting out of 3rd gear.
