I'm considering 2 different subwoofer upgrade paths. I currently have a DIY Adire Shiva in a 5.39 ft^3 enclosure tuned to 20 Hz powered by a Parts Express 272W Plate amp. I'm considering replacing the driver with a Stryke Audio AV12 and later on upgrading the amp to a Crown XLS202. Total out-of-pocket, $170 (driver) + $250 (amp) - $50 (old driver sale) - $70 (old amp sale)= $300. Option 2 is to sell my old sub and amp (could probably get $200) and get a PB1+ or PB2-ISD. At $700 - 800 out of pocket opposed to $300 out of pocket, what are the advantages?

Also, how does the Stryke AV12 compare to the SVS-Plus driver? I know they were both designed by TC-Sounds and have read that they are very similar. This would dictate that a PB1+ would be roughly the same performance wise as my current enclosure w/ a AV12 and better amp, correct?

    Thanks,

    Stephen Hopkins

I don't know about your sub questions but I would be interested in your Shiva driver (and possibly amp) if you decide to sell...
