Anyone in here buy the MTS full size speaker system and want to give me a review? I've finally decided it's time to upgrade from the mishmash of speakers I've acquired over the last decade, and want something that is really high quality for the price. I intend for these speakers to be used for at least another decade, if not longer.

I know SVS has a stellar reputation and these speakers have gotten a lot of glowing reviews from professionals, but I'd really like to hear from an average joe off HTF who actually uses them day to day.

Thanks,
-Nate

I love them. I am now wanting to upgrade and get an amp. My denon 3806 makes them play screaming loud, but they still sound so good, I know they can get louder with more power.
The magnetic grills are super sweet!

IMO words can't describe how good these speakers are. Well maybe these--"Exceeding Expectations." All the hype about the tweeter SVS used, well it's all true.

Wow, thanks guys. And nice to know my Denon 3801 (yeah yeah, I'll upgrade someday) should be able to push the speakers well enough. I was a little worried when some people mentioned having trouble driving theirs.

Now I just have to convince the SO to let them in the house :)

I too am very interested in these speakers.

I have a pb12 plus/2 and it really impresses the hell out of me.

I have a big room (28x21x8) in a small house and it literally shakes everything above the foundation AND sounds great.

However, SVS is well known for their subs- but not as much for their speakers.

I have searched out quite a few reviews and chats on them and they get overwhelmingly positive grades for their speakers and their customer service.

So much so that I found a thread on "clubpolk" that implies that SVS funds a network of "shills" to promote their products.

[To see the thread search "svs customer service shill" on Yahoo.]

I find this suggestion interesting and amusing but not so believable.

Could I be naive in my doubt? I don't really think so.

I would like to see someone who is a bit more critical in their reviews / comments simply to hear potential weaknesses.

After all, no mid level speaker is going to be with out weaknesses.

Otherwise, why would people pay much more money for other brands?

ANY critics out there?

I remember seeing a review somewhere of a guy who actually returned the speakers because they were too laid back for him. Some responses to the thread said that the speakers he was coming from were very forward sounding, and he even admitted to preferring forward sounding speakers, so he's probably biased, but there's your negative review. He did say that otherwise, the speakers were very good, just not tuned to the way he prefers.

I've read enough opinions from different people and have seen enough reviews of other products from actual shills that I am quite certain these reviews are genuine.

Thank you Nate for the reply.

Yes, I also find it hard to believe SVS would decide investing in shills a worthy promotion model.

The clubpolk thread did seem pretty "tongue-in-cheek," however, based on the objectivity of the reviews I've seen, I can understand the nugget of truth in their humor.

I appreciate the anecdote:

"I remember seeing a review somewhere of a guy who actually returned the speakers because they were too laid back for him."

BUT... This doesn't sate my interest to read an "actual review" that states the strengths and weaknesses of SVS "full sized 5.0" vs. a B&W or Swan or Axiom or paradigm or DefTech or BA or Polk or Klipsch 5.0 in the same price range.

I WOULD also be interested in a link to "this guys" review if you can recall it.

All this being said, SVS is still the leader in my search for a killer set of "mid-ranged priced" speakers.

They really seem to have great "bang for the buck" and... yea, I couldn't really be more impressed with the pb-12 plus/2.

But, gosh, I would really like to see some hyper critical, jerk, reviewer dig into some SVS warts before I drop three grand on their product.
