svideo or composite connection to dvd recorder (1 Viewer)

Will there be a noticable difference when connected from satellite receiver or from stb? Trying to decide between the jvc and lg dvd recorder/vhs combo units? I want the highest quality dvd recording possible. The lg unit does not have svideo input on the rear, only the front while the jvc unit has it both locations.

S-Video is better than composite video from any source that has native separate chrominance (color) and luminance (brightness) signals (such as satellite receivers).
