I pretty much swore off this show. Skipped last season. I was just getting tired of being manipulated week after week on what I felt was a scripted show.

Nonetheless, I find myself back again. Guess there is nothing else to watch right now.

Anyone else going to be following this season?

Once I start, I watch shows until they die. I finish what I start - lol, no matter how bad they get.

I'll be along for the ride. I had gotten off the Survivor Train awhile back for 3-4 seasons as it seemed that they were using a strategy of "find the most despicable people we can" to compete. They seemed to have righted the ship in that regard and I once again find it just entertaining enough to watch.

Love it. Hated the "Hantz years", and despised the ones with Colton, but, I still love the show.

Last season was pretty bad, but my wife and I are both Survivor 4 Life. She only missed the first two seasons and some of the March Madness recap shows, but I've never missed an episode.

There have been some truly awful people on this show through the years. About ready to pass on this season, but I'll give it a try.

As ChristopherG stated, "find the most despicable people we can". TAR has had a few terrible contestants, but "Survivor" seems to go out of their way to find the worst of humanity.

We still love the show and have been watching from the beginning. It's good family viewing and we often pause to discuss/argue what contestants should do and debate if what they did was a smart move or not.

That first contestant voted out was a clear villain in hiding. If they were allowed to stay they'd be the one we'd all be hating on. You could just see it emerge as the votes started coming out.

Pretty decent start.

I love how they call it the 35th season or whatever number they choose. I might have been 12 when the show started using their math. ;)

Ghost Island is Exile Island zhuzhed up with tsotchkes.

It seems the cast is much better than last season. Not having to watch confessionals where they're trying to justify their label is a huge plus. It was exhausting listening to cast members explaining over and over again why they're hustlers or some such nonsense.

I like Dominic, but I fear I am being manipulated. But he's like Tony from Cagayan without the ADD, which is a huge reason why I couldn't stand Tony from Cagayan. Huge props from finding the idol in the dark. But that reveal of the fake idol to Chris was badly played. He lied to Chris that he didn't have it then went back on his lie, then he put a target on his back by revealing he has an idol. Also: it looked super-fake. Just one shell? C'mon, production would never make the idol a single shell just like they would never make it just a stick.

Jacob is a triangulation of Seth Rogan, Bob Ross, and Pig Pen. Has anyone gotten that dirty that fast? He was relatively clean for the first few days, and then after Ghost Island he was a huge mess.

I'd call Dominick one of the worst people ever on this show. Hope he goes soon. Agree with the early people voted off. Kind of surprising, but not real good competitors.

I may be cold-hearted, but I find it baffling that people like Donathan can go through the trouble and process of getting on the show, and then when it comes to crunch time (the underwater dive challenge) he doesn't want to do it...that is, until his team and Probst practically beg him too. It made a great moment, but still.

What blows my mind is people who apply for the show but don't know how to swim. That's like applying to be a teacher without knowing how to read.

My wife and I have seen every episode. We missed a season-four episode way back from a power outage (and went all over town trying to find a bar showing it), but we eventually saw the episode after I signed up for CBS Partial Access to watch Star Trek.

Gosh...but Jeff didn't build up a super-ultra-big moment for Donathan like he did for Cirie a couple seasons back. That really pissed me off when he did that for her...creating a narrative of "Cirie as an underdog (who got up off the couch!) who perseveres."

That whole thing still burns my hide.
