Cochran is starting to look like a dark horse in this season. He is hitting his stride but now appears to be in the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" area regarding immunity challenges.

I don't get it.

Malcolm allows himself to be put off his search for the HII by Andrea's presence. [At that point, I would have thought he'd have figured, "what do I care if they know I have the idol?"] So, instead, he goes to tribal without it and gets voted off.

He must've figured it could happen (as soon as he was vulnerable)...yet in his confessional he says even if he had found it, he wouldn't have played it.

I wonder if there's any chance he told Eddie or Reynolds the clue to the HII. Or, I wonder if Andrea goes digging where Malcolm was digging and finds it? That would give whoever finds it a HUGE advantage heading to the wire.

You could probably guess that I was disappointed with this week's
vote knowing that Malcolm was my choice to win.

What's left is a mish mash of survivors I really have no vested interest
in. I mean, who do you root for at this point? Perhaps you go with
dark horse Cochran.

Agree with all that Mike Frezon has said above. Malcolm could have
easily stayed another round if he had shared the immunity idol with Andrea.
I must say, I give Andrea a lot of credit for remaining tough at that moment
and getting herself involved in a stand-off that ultimately cost Malcolm the
game. She's not as entirely dumb as some people would assume.

I suspect she is going to go digging next week.

I'm just sitting here now wondering who I would want to win. It seems like
an impossible choice.

To bad Malcolm blew it, he's one my favorites. But Cochran? At the bottom of my list. He's an annoying little nerdy weasel, complete wimp at competition (just happened to get very lucky), and I hope he chokes next week.

Plus I'm getting so tired of his little lectures where he describes himself as the "survivor champion" or whatever the phrase is he uses. Much to impressed with himself. Time for him to go.

I think we're looking at Eddie, Reynold, or possibly Dawn if she can hold it together until the end.

Personally, this looks to me like typical survival of the weakest survivor. Next 3 out: Reynold, Eddie, and Eric.

Spoiler warning - I'm commenting on the vote result. If you haven't watched the episode you shouldn't be reading this. :)

So, Andrea has a crush on Eddie so she tries to divert the vote from him to Brenda for a, IMO, bogus reason. That challenge was, as my wife calls it, a 'women's challenge'. The kind of challenge the women would be better at. To turn around an announce Brenda as a threat in challenges is a bit silly. Everyone sees through this and decides to get rid of Andrea instead...? I would have gone after Eddie anyway. If he's still the perceived threat then he's still around to win a challenge. Andrea would have been pissed off but in the end they would have been in the same place - the six now turning on each other.

Loved her reaction when she realized she had been blind-sided. Don't believe I've ever seen any evictee have a shocked outburst like that.

Damn, miss the eye candy for another three hours. Now all we guys have is Brenda.

I may be in the minority, but frankly, I think Brenda is the
cutest of all the women this season.

Glad to see Andrea gone. She was bothering me.

The problem is, do any of us have a favorite with the group
that remains? There isn't anyone that I would root to win, nor
do I think deserves to win other than they were able to "outlast."

Question...

I may have missed something. How did Andrea obtain
Malcolm's hidden immunity idol clue? I would have thought
that he would have taken that clue with him. This week I did
a bit of fast-forwarding so I probably missed something.

Ron, a clue was included with the mid-show challenge. So when Andrea won that, she got the clue. It also seemed more specific than the one that Malcolm paid $480 for.

As it turned out, the HII was not buried under inches of dirt like Malcolm had thought, but was very close to the surface. So it could have been found by randomly hunting around like all the HII's since Samoa. Remember the effort it took Yul and Amanda to find their HII's?

Speaking of which, Erik was the one who actually found the idol. Contrary to what Cochrane said, he did not hand it over to Andrea -- she snatched it from him without asking. Even though it was her clue, he found it, and according to past president, that would mean it belonged to Erik. But since he didn't raise a stink about it, no ruling had to be made. So while he didn't literally hand it over to Andrea, he didn't try to get it back.

Looks like Brenda woke up. Erik is also starting to get a little more face time.

I found TC tense because Andrea is so sensitive and paranoid that anything could have prompted her to use the HII. But it appears she was so confident in the blind side of Brenda that it never occurred to her. The other tribemates did a good job of being cagey with their answers and didn't let Jeff make them inadvertently spill the beans. But Andrea took it well. Actually, she took way better than Dawn, who still looked like she was about to have a nervous breakdown after Andrea was eliminated.

Reynold's porn stache at TC was epic. It could not be pornier. It's like he got personal grooming tips from Ron Jeremy.

Porn stache at its worst. Wow did he look sleazy.

Seems like Cochran has slid quietly into "The Specialist" role and thinks he's calling the shots. He needs to get booted and soon. Arrogant SOB in my opinion. Acts like he's the brains of the game and he's playing puppet-master. Hope he gets called out on it soon.

IRT Cochran he is actually playing a much better game this time around. I agree on the arrogance, but he is definitely showing a lot more strategy and caginess then his first ride in the barrel.

Come on, guys, Cochran is just getting that sort of "edit", to tell the story for this season. Everyone thinks they're in control as long as they didn't go home at the last tribal council. It's only when you get blindsided is when you realize you didn't have it under control, or it was a matter of being on the wrong side of the numbers.

Yeah, this show is incredibly edited to manipulate the audience. They probably film hundreds of hours per show, yet edit it down to make it interesting and show us what they want.

Can't even imagine the days of boredom the contestants go through, doing what, gathering wood, water, laying on the beach, slowly starving, must be pretty dull. We're only seeing the highlights and only the ones the producers want us to see.

You should watch some of the earlier seasons, Stan. You see more of the life-around-camp scenes.

And there are times when the Survivors comment on how the "down time" is one of the biggest hardships of the experience--especially when there are some annoying castaways still in camp.

In earlier seasons we at least saw the survivors trying to get food during their downtime. I don't think they've shown them trying to get food once this season.

You guys covered most of everything I saw. I'd add that Brenda has been playing hurt most of the season. They didn't show how she got hurt, but she's been limping in challenges and often has her knee wrapped with a buff or some cloth. She is compelling. I thought Andrea's clue was exactly the same as Malcolm's. I also thought that if Eric hadn't turned over that idol, he would have fractured the alliance as they were clearly digging together based on Andrea's info. The bigger surprise to me was that Andrea didn't dig after Malcolm got booted off. She knew the area where he was looking. I suppose she probably did dig and they didn't show it since it wasn't a successful or otherwise interesting scene.

Out of respect for those who haven't watched yet I won't go into specifics on tonight's episode, but I will say that was one of the coldest, most heartless things I've ever seen on this or any reality TV series.
