This years Superbowl will not be broadcast in HD by Fox. Apparently Fox is going the "DTV" route instead. The broadcast will be in 480p. Of course the Superbowl has always been high sales period for TVs especially HDTVs, not this year. Fox claims it will improve the broadcast at a lower cost. Real pity for those of us expecting to see the big game in HDTV for the first time.

Real sorry to hear that. What a disappointment. Fox has let

us down. I have been waiting to hear about the how the

Superbowl would be broadcast and this is bad news. Fox needs

to get it together. I have to wonder if CBS or ABC would have made a decision this bad.

What is even worse there are only about 18 fox affiliates who can even transmit fox's 480p widescreen feed...The rest only can retransmit the regular 480i ntsc feed..

fox sucks..

Ow come on guys! You're unappreciative. After all the trouble and expense Focks is going to in adding the yellow first down markers for the playoffs (that everyone else happens to provide during the regular season.) :D

Yeah, all they'll do is line double the plain Jane 480i NTSC signal and say that it's DTV on the cheap.
Murdoch you are a low life B-A-S-T-A-R-D!!!! (and this doesn't just have to do with the anti-HDTV stance). Oops! Did I just get a little too political? ;)

Really? Poop! I was all ready to give my "We need an HD decoder before the SuperBowl" speech to my SO. I guess I still have hope for the Winter Olympics.
