So, what do you think of them? I just finished the ELF 1.0 because I was curious about the Tang Band drivers everybody raves about. I actually used the W3-879S from PE. I'm impressed! How's the SPL for you? I'm going to keep playing around with these drivers. They're great!

Did you use the 871 in the 1.0 or the 879.
The 879 just does not have the upper extention that the 871 does..
SPL very good
The 871 goes in its own volume over the 319S1 in the cabinet.
Then the parts in the crossover are AIR and Poly, with Metal resistors.
A very detailed design.
The 871S soud is fibrant,detailed but not overly sharp or raspy.

I used the 879. I'll be getting the 871 shortly so I'll be able to compare. I'm not planning on using these myself, I'm just experimenting so somebody may be getting a mini-system for Christmas. I did notice my wife eyeballing them. She may be expecting them to show up in her art room. Thanks for the info!

Once you have a 871S leave it in one cabinet and play back and forth between the 2.
And let my know what you here.

Looks cool! I'm working on a couple of designs using multiple 871's.

I'm pretty sure when you hear the 871 you won't have any desire to use the 879's any more!

Wharfedale is what this customer had before.
They just had them over a year and I was doing a install for them and took a 5pack over just incase.I new he had been looking at my speakers before this.
Well once set up they listened for a few minutes and said when can I have them finished.(they were in MDF at the time)
They did not want anything other than the RAW ACOUSTICS custom paint As you see once the lights are out realy the 871S will look at you and that is it.
And yes I installed the new Sony remote as well as 12 large macros as well.
Customer now asking if I can get it to load the dishwash and turn it on

As Brian said once you try the 871 no going back.
