Circuit City is apparently blowing out their stock of Philips 30-Hour DSR6000 DirecTiVo units. $99.99.
Here's the best part: TiVo is giving a $100 rebate, so your final cost is a whopping FREE!

Hmmm...may have spoken too soon on the rebate, but it's still a pretty good price for a 30-hour unit, plus it has DD 5.1 capability...
I'm still checking on the rebate info...
Edit: The rebate ended on Sunday. Doh! Still, I'm not complaining for $99...

You had to purchase your unit before September 30, 2001; the rebate expires October 31, 2001.

At $99 this is still a great deal even with no rebate! I just picked up 2. Actually my GF got one and I got one to put away for later. Went into CC (normally I loath to go in there) and saw that there were no DSR6000 units on display and no empty spots on the shelf where there would be. So I figured nobody would know what I was talking about and I would have to explain/argue my way through the deal. I told the sales guy that we were there for the $99 Dsr6000 deal, he looked on the shelf said none here lets look in the computer. We walked over and he pulled them up and said yep we have 15 the price is $99. I said that includes a 2 LNB dish and free install right? He said I think so, poked at the computer a few more times and said yep. We'll take 2. :) It was great! In and out in 10 minutes.
For the rest of you I asked how much longer this promo would go on. He said that in the computer it shows $99 as the regular price so he wouldn't expect it to end anytime soon.
The funny thing is they don't have any on display and don't advertise the deal. They are actually pushing a $49 deal with free dish and install but no tivo.
While we were there the other sales guy actually sold a Direct tivo unit to another couple with a total over $300 and never mentioned the DSR6000 deal! I felt kind of bad but didn't want to but in, just wanted to get the hell out of there.
Joel, thanks for the heads up even if I missed the rebate :)

Of course, the subscription service is not free. Was 200 for a lifetime fee. Or they get you for a monthly fee. So, it's to their benefit to get the boxes out in the population.
