Hopefully someone can help me out with this...

I have a fairly small apartment, so here are my three choices in my price range.

4 PSB Image 5Ts

With Image 9C

4 PSB Image 4Ts

With Image 8C

4 PSB Alpha Ts

With Alpha C

Specs

I also still need an opinion on a receiver, too.

Yamaha HTR-5590

Onkyo TXSR701
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...3337&oid=69797

I'm waiting on a subwoofer for now...

Are any of these going to be "overkill" for a small living room? Is there a huge advantage over one to the other? I understand most of the specs but I need a more expert opinion. Please help!

Edit: I've changed this post to reflect my current situation.

You might consider some of the Internet direct companies. Ascend, AV123 and Axiom all have speakers that would fit your budget, when paired with that receiver. I have not heard all of their models, but check out the Rocket ELT system from AV123. Its only drawback is that the speakers are bookshelf types rather than floor standers. This will also be true of the Ascend 170s.

I could recommend either if you are satisfied with bookshelves. The ELT system has four satellites, a center and a sub for $1,000. AV123 will package a Denon 1804 receiver for another $350, if you want to consider that receiver.

The package is a hard deal to beat, but there are a lot of other good options.

I'm impressed with my Onkyo 601!

It sounds MUCH better than my HK225-not that this helps you ;)

The Denon would be a much better amp. For your budget I would recommend a mirage denon package that Tweeter sells. They also have 1 year same as cash right now!

Really? A HTiB? Almost everyone I've talked to has said to stay away from a HTiB...

And the closest Tweeter is almost 100 miles away, unfortunately...

Please post in the hardware areas when asking for specific model recommendations. Since you're asking about an entire system, A/V Sources is the closest fit. The Basics area is strictly intended for general discussion at the beginner level, not specific model recommendations. Thanks.

I am also going to recommend the ELT-1. I have it and absolutely love it. I have it matched with a HK AVR325.

The center chanel for this package is amazing!

Good luck

Alright. I finally bought the first half of my HT system. I purchased the Yamaha from Amazon and all the little things I'll need to complete the system (plugs, wires, surge protector etc). Now all I need to do is build up a little more money and get the speakers! Whoo hoo!
