I went suit-shopping yesterday (Memorial Day) at the local S&K, and got what I consider excellent service from the salesman. I've been thinking I should write a letter of commendation, expressing my appreciation of his service, and send it to the local store as well as the corporate headquarters.
But I've never done this sort of thing before. Are there are any suggestions as to making it most beneficial for the employee (assuming these things are actually noticed by stores)?
Thanks :)

Trust me, if he is working in retail.. any positive mail, even written in a dull crayon, will make his day.

I don't think that the manner in which you say it is as important as saying it. Praise is not doled out as often as ciriticism, especially in retail sales. Send a letter, or if possible, email the manager of the store and mention the clerk who helped you.

Try sending A note to head office too.

If you have a small local newspaper send a letter to them too.

It COULD move him up in the company if somebody sees it.
