I have a Marantz 6.1 receiver, but there is precisous little out there to really give all the speakers a work out (in other words not much in ES or EX). I have Gladiator and the Haunting - any other suggestions?

Doug, try Terminator: SE (not T2). It's got incredible EX effects. The Toy Story movies, also have great EX effects. So does Star Wars Ep1. There are loads of great titles. Many are not EX specific but will work well in such a setup. Saving Private Ryan sounds incredible in a 6.1 set up.

    Marc.

    Thanks,

Are there any particular scenes which really show off the 6.1? Eg. like the axe throwing scene in Gladiator?

A great EX demo is Monster Inc. trailer on Toy Story 2. But don't put the blinders on and just look for discs with so called EX/ES mixes because it means absolutely nothing. Most 5.1 discs have on the mix the mono info on the Surround channels that will decode in the EX/ES channel the same as an EX/ES encoded mix.

So go put in Saving Private Ryan DTS 5.1, Tomb Raider DD 5.1, Air Force One is also great with EX engaged.
